The Lord has allowed that I should pause at this critical juncture in writing about the restoration of men and grieve for those from amongst whom I have sprung racially for what is taking place and is still to be fulfilled as He began to show me in 1984. For this is Black History Month unfolding contemporaneously with and an integral part of American history. Even so, though we remember the facts and realities of the black American experience this month, Juneteenth and everyday of the year, they of themselves can do nothing to turn back the continued suffering of the spiritually and otherwise impoverished masses of the people--the men in particular--untouched by divine restoration.
I set out in the autumn of 1984 to create a short video documentary for my Master’s Thesis on the problems many black Americans faced in Fort Worth, Texas including the typical issues of poverty, inadequate housing, low educational attainment, unemployment, family dysfunction, drugs, alcohol, violence, criminality, incarceration etc. My target audience was predominantly black American churches that were numerically prolific in the hood. Who Is Weeping For My People? as the title of the documentary was not only intended to spiritually and morally confront otherwise preoccupied religious hearts, but to also convey the heart of God toward their hurting community.1
The problems I found in 1984 Fort Worth, of course, exist in every urban and rural area of America with any sizeable black population and have intensified. In fairness, governments along with secular and faith based non-government organizations to include a relative few that are church operated at all levels have tried (and try) in varying ways with uneven success outcomes to address the political, educational and socio-economic factors that give rise for example, to persistent poverty. However, unless and until the churches professed to be of Jesus Christ in each community step up as one to fulfill their biblical restoration mandate, positive outcomes will continue to be limited.
Churches involved do not immediately release any of the current key players from the mix of those helping black Americans. But they bring to the table the divine imperative to restore men spiritually in Jesus Christ who are the engines that God designed to drive families and communities to prosperity. After any man is restored in Christ, he relies long-term on God and needs only that mortal flesh places no artificial barriers such as racial discrimination to his aspirations to provide for his family and be a contributing member of the community. For him it is as soul singer, James Brown, sang in his 1969 song: “I don’t want nobody to give me nothing, open up the door, I’ll get it myself.”
To their shame today as in 1984 though, such talk is so much idealism since the many divided churches and their pastors cooperate well enough to put on self-serving annual days, but find it impossible to lay aside ego, pride, control issues and personal agendas to preach the one and only Gospel of Jesus Christ as called and teach biblical manhood as it is plainly written in God’s Word (Romans 10:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 4:1-6, 5:22-6:4; 2 Thessalonians 3:10; 1 Timothy 5:8). Yes, keeping it real, many of our sons do not try too hard to hear what preachers are saying today because of the great number in destructive bondage to Satan, sin and self as they are.
I wrote about the inability to declare freedom to other men when the preachers as ostensible aspiring strong men of God in Christ’s image are still in bondage and unconcerned last year.2 So, I write again this year for the sake of black males and our community languishing in self-destruction to appeal to any hearts left that may care; care enough with tears launched from agonizing grief at the slaughter. Or am I at times, their families and friends the only ones to weep when another black male is killed by anyone; another soul removed from and whose blood waters the earth? God weeps over this and wills to act; why not all of those professing to be His people? The Lord weeps as He did through the prophet Elisha over Israel in the face of His judgment’s instrument (2 Kings 8:7-15).
He weeps also as He did over Judah on their way to and in Babylon through the prophet Jeremiah (Jeremiah 8:13-9:2) and all from first century Israel to this hour that fail by the time of death to lay hold of His salvation and restoration through Jesus, Son of Man (Luke 19:41-44)! He as God’s prime “Repairer of the Breach” (Isaiah 58:1-12, NKJV) and true “Change Agent” is our only Hope as I know for myself and have joyfully testified.3 Such testimony to the world is what God planned for our people!4 But if those that profess to know God refuse to model and declare His restoration in Jesus, why should we expect anything better than what we see through our tears (Jeremiah 9:3-24)? The risen, living Christ continues His cry among American churches, “Who is on the Lord's side?”

As a result of the ongoing, escalating rebellion of the world against God and His Anointed One, Jesus Christ, the ancient foundations of mortal human existence are breaking up like the ice sheets in earth’s Polar Regions. While in my book, The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics and otherwise the Lord has led me to cite Psalm 2:1-3 as the key prophetic Scripture explaining what was clearly a forceful uptick in rebellion against Him in the 1960s, the rebellion itself, of course, began in Eden with Eve and Adam (Genesis 3:1-13; 1 Timothy 2:14). It continued reaching a crescendo in Noah’s day and again as human hands conspired together to put to death the Son of God (Genesis 6:5-8; Acts 4:23-28).
Unveiled prophetically by the Lord Jesus, the general sweep of history from His first to second comings to earth would be filled with conquest, war and tumult to include rank rebellion against God together with religious deception, persecution and violence against the saints and upheaval in the political, economic, social and natural spheres (Mark 13:3-13; Revelation 6:1-11). As revealed also by the apostle Paul to the church at Thessalonica, going forward from the 1st century lawlessness as a constant, but restrained drumbeat would continue until the man who fully personifies it comes to the world stage by the working of Satan in the permissive will of God (2 Thessalonians 2:3-10).
In the midst of all that is going on in the world at this hour, rebellion against God and His Anointed can be seen building to this next high point in the Antichrist whom the Lord will crush with his evil, mortal allies and spiritual enabler at His glorious return (Revelation 19:11-20:3)! So, what are the righteous to do as the hated targets of a world in such vigorous rebellion against God; when the ancient God ordained foundations of human life on earth--definitions of gender, related roles, authority, marriage, family, morality and truth--are crumbling (Isaiah 59:4-15)? Certainly, we do not forsake the Lord and change sides!
Like David who was inspired by the Holy Spirit to reflect on this important matter, we stand firm as aspiring strong men and great women of God in the image of Christ completely convinced that God is in control and put our trust in Him (Psalm 11:1-4a). Nothing, I repeat, nothing happening on this earth is occurring outside of the foreknowledge, perfect or permissive will of our God enthroned in Heaven! He is superintending unfolding events in accord with His will and prophetic Word recorded for our benefit, to confound His enemies to their faces and prove His superior standing as God Almighty (Deuteronomy 29:29; Isaiah 44:6-8; Matthew 24:23-25)!
God sees what those in rebellion against Him are plotting and doing (Psalm 11:4b). He is allowing them to display the true contents of their wicked, unrepentant hearts in fulfilling His purposes of judgment as they fill the cup of His wrath to the top with their deeds. The deeds of the wicked include the violent persecution of the righteous as God’s holy people because we--considered “strange” in their eyes--do not join in with their wickedness (1 Peter 2:9-10, 4:1-4, NKJV). Supposedly, we are not ashamed to be the peculiar people of God because we are no longer of the world in darkness, condemned and dying (Romans 13:11-14; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 John 2:15-17).
Instead, as those purchased out of the world soul and body with the price of Christ’s blood, we live as sons of the light and in so doing, manifestly expose the world’s “works of darkness,” (1 Corinthians 6:12-20; Ephesians 5:8-14; 1 Peter 2:11-12, NKJV). For this reason, the sons of disobedience hate and increasingly persecute Christians to the point of seeking to be rid of us as they also did our Lord (Luke 21:12-19; John 15:18-25). We must come to grips with the truth that the Lord in times of declension such as these also tests the hearts of those professing to be His. For the Lord is not ignorant of the fact men sign up for salvation in times of ease, but when persecution and suffering come they easily fall away (Psalms 11:5a; Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23).
Indeed, the falling away of many professing Christians from God’s Word now is due in major part to their being ashamed of it and Christ at the world’s ridicule. Among them are pastors that corrupt, defy and lower the standard of God’s Word in compromise because you fear men and women will not attend the church you lead. You help God’s ancient foundations crumble! You also make men and women in your image not Christ’s and ill-equip them to stand as the unashamed peculiar people of God to their salvation since the Lord will be ashamed of those ashamed of Him at His coming (Mark 8:34-39). Severe persecution quickly reveals who the Lord’s faithful, peculiar people are (Revelation 12:9-11)!
Seeing such days in ancient Israel as we have today, the prophet Micah mourns over the shrinking number of the faithful and warns about betraying opposition even from among one’s own family, friends and no shocker, church folk as does the Lord Jesus who cites his writing (Micah 7:1-6; Matthew 10:34-39, 24:10; Luke 21:12-17). Like David, Micah determines to put his trust in God and wait for His salvation as we are to also do (Micah 7:7). Too, he warns the wicked gloating in triumph over God’s peculiar people that it is temporary; our apparent defeat is only testing and merited chastening. In the end, however, God’s wrath will eternally destroy them as David affirms (Psalm 11:5b-7; Micah 7:8-10). The risen, living Christ continues His cry among American churches, “Who is on the Lord’s side?”
I close this year out as the Lord leads offering a biblical worldview on the topic of gun violence which so tragically dominated the headlines. It was the violent headlines of 2012 and early 2013 that are noted in this edited blog repost. There is at least a tempering solution to gun violence in the Gospel of Jesus Christ until He returns if even professing Christians will embrace it since many are proud gun owners for protection contrary to His warning and instruction. Thank you for taking the time in your busy life to read and reflect on the things written in this blog the past year. In spite of all of the evil in the world, I wish you and yours a blessed New Year!

While limiting access and availability to guns along with their capacity to fire bullets may frustrate those bent on gun violence, gun control alone will not address the problem of people killing people that as a matter of divine foretold lawlessness in these latter days, will continue to increase (Matthew 24:12; Revelation 6:3-4, 9:21).
As an aspiring strong man of God in the image of Christ, I am convinced of Him that gun ownership is not needed for personal or family protection (Job 13:15a; Psalm 27:1-3, 59:1-4, 118:5-9; Matthew 5:38-48, 26:51-56; Romans 8:35-39, 12:18-21; Philippians 1:27-30).1 Though I am not an advocate of our nation’s Second Amendment to the Constitution, I agree with those supporting this position that guns do not kill people, people using guns do. The existence of guns and other weapons (or for that matter, mental illness) does not drive violence according to the Word of God, sin in the heart of man does! Indeed, weapons or how they were used (along with mental illness) are not even mentioned in the biblical narrative laying out what brought about God’s decision to destroy the world of Noah’s day.
However, the narrative does say, “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually,” (Genesis 6:5, NKJV). And again, “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence,” (Genesis 6:11, NKJV). Evil in the heart of man due to sin led to a world filled with violence and all manner of other corrupt behavior not weapons (or mental illness). Therefore, in the divine assessment, violence and murder with guns or any other weapons must be addressed at its root: sin in the heart of man (Mark 7:20-23)!
Only God has the free fix for man’s heart in His Son, Jesus Christ, that breaks the power of sin in man and also addresses another source of his encouragement to violence, Satan, the original murderer (John 3:14-21, 8:43-47; Acts 2:36-40; Romans 8:1-4, 10:6-13, Colossians 1:13-14, 2:11-15). Even so, further proof that sin in people is the real issue with gun and all other violence is given by God in His prophetic Word. It presents us with an advance look into the thousand year reign of Christ to begin at His Second Coming. Of His many initial acts in the cause of establishing the Kingdom of God on earth, Satan, that great instigator of violence among men will be removed from the world (Revelation 20:1-3).
The Lord will also order the nations to transform all swords and spears into peaceful tools (Isaiah 2:1-4; Micah 4:1-3); Israel will destroy the weapons of Armageddon by fire (Ezekiel 39:9-10). Access to manufactured weapons of violence will be eliminated. Any sinful, mortal man that murders in that Day will do so with whatever is at hand including his hands. He will also face the swift, sure and severe judgment of King Jesus (Psalm 2:7-12; Isaiah 11:1-9; Malachi 3:5; Revelation 19:15-16). Yet, after the end of that millennium, Satan is released and instigates mortal man’s final revolt against God complete with weapons (Ezekiel 38:1-17; Revelation 20:7-9a).
This final satanically instigated human revolt is permitted by God to show one last time His eternal wisdom and righteousness that necessitated the cross of Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit in the New Covenant for sinful men who have believed. For in that Day even under the perfect rule of Christ, sinners will do what sinners do and would do it forever if the Lord allowed (Jeremiah 17:9-10; 31:31-34; Hebrews 9:11-10:18)! He also shows how because of His holy character, it is impossible for sin and evil whether in angels or men to peacefully co-exist with Him in His Kingdom. Sin and sinners which are unnatural to God’s eternal existence must be completely removed from His presence.
He, therefore, in response to the revolt after the end of the Messianic millennium and close of this mortal age, pours out the consuming fire of His holy wrath upon all revolting flesh as well as the entire physical creation; thereafter in judgment consigning everyone and anything not destined for eternal dwelling with Him to the lake of fire (Isaiah 24:17-23; Ezekiel 38:18-20; Malachi 4:1; 2 Peter 3:10-12; Revelation 20:9b-15)! It is only after this that the prophets and the apostles declare that we will see God create new heavens and a new earth “in which righteousness (alone) dwells,” (Isaiah 65:17-19; Malachi 4:2-3; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1-8, NKJV).
In the meantime, the only realistic hope of temporarily curtailing gun violence by people against people during these latter days is to help as many as possible become followers and aspiring strong men and great women of God in the image of Jesus Christ! I’m game; what about you?
1 So foreign to the culturally conditioned American Christian mind is the biblical basis for living a gun free life today, it is bitterly rejected by many pastors and professing
Christians across racial and socio-economic backgrounds as if it were bona fide heresy. However, the right to bear arms codified in the U.S. Constitution is one of
the earliest examples of rights granted by our nation’s legal apparatus that knowingly supersedes biblical instruction and paves the way for others such as are found in
slavery, segregation, abortion and same sex marriage to name a few. For the man serious about living to please God and doing His will even in your protecting respon-
sibility, I urge you to get my book, The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics in the Strong Man Store to learn more about how to do this.
Some of our readers may have wondered why I have been reposting blogs. Our Ministry has been suffering great satanic opposition that has included the sudden disappearance of a Web Site that formerly hosted The Strong Man Of God Blog from May 2011 through January 2014. Another question others may have concerns the origin of the line, “The risen, living Christ continues His cry among American churches, ‘Who is on the Lord’s side?’” which periodically concludes my blogs. With great soberness not only do I share with you in all candor that the Lord Jesus spoke that question into my spirit, but also in this blog, I present the biblical and spiritual circumstances that led to it.
Before and since beginning to write an internet blog, I have been writing a commentary for our Strong Man Of God Monthly Newsletter, a print publication Strong Man Ministries publishes. In prayerfully seeking the Lord for the subject and content of the December 2010 issue, He took me to Exodus 32 and led me to write the words that are the specific content of this and the next two blogs. I invite you as Scripture does to judge whether I truly speak from the Lord’s heart, mouth and written Word seeing that I have found no reason to be ashamed of or edit what I previously wrote except for greater grammatical accuracy (Deuteronomy 18:15-22; 1 Thessalonians 5:20-22). In the event you have not noticed as a regular reader, I fear God!

History is an excellent teacher when men are wise enough to learn the lessons it offers. For example, the Old Testament is filled with historical lessons individual Christians and our churches are even told by the apostle Paul were written for us to take warning (1 Corinthians 10:1-11). But from the highly compromised spiritual state so many American churches are in, it is very apparent the warning of Paul and Israel's Old Testament experiences are going unheeded. Indeed, spiritual adultery is so brazen and prolific the time has come to echo the cry of a righteously indignant Moses throughout the land, "Whoever is on the Lord's side--come to me," (Exodus 32:26, NKJV)!
The voice echoing Moses is that of the Lord Jesus Christ delivered by His faithful prophets and church pastors; men who are God rather than people pleasers. Men unlike Aaron who after Moses had gone up on the mountain to God, listened to the people to make them a god that would go out before them (Exodus 32:1-6). This took place after just a scant forty days had gone by when Aaron and all the people had heard the very voice of God commanding them to neither put any god before Him or make an image of anything and bow to it. But there it was, a golden calf that the people bowed to and indulged themselves in pagan revelry to honor (Exodus 32:7-20).
When Moses returned he demanded to know what the people had done to Aaron to make him bring this sin on them. After first blaming the people for the evil in their hearts, Aaron then wants Moses to believe he cast their gold into the fire and magically the idol appeared (Exodus 32:21-24). Before you laugh, realize that is exactly the same kind of tall tale many pastors are telling each other today. They have to give the people what they want even if it means compromising God's Word or the people bent on evil will leave. The Lord Jesus who died to redeem sinners is not buying it and in righteous indignation is about to deal severely with American churches (Revelation 2:12-17).
Before that day very near, the Lord is crying out among us to find out who is on His side? Who is that servant that has remained faithful while the Lord Jesus like Moses has been away on Heaven's mountain with the Father; the servant who understands the local church is not his personal kingdom to rule as he sees fit, but a stewardship responsibility for which he will give an account (Matthew 24:45-51)? When Moses cried out for the people to take sides, only his brethren of the tribe of Levi answered the call to be on the Lord’s side. They went through the camp slaying those that continued in rebellion even after Moses had destroyed the idol (Exodus 32:25-29).
For those with ears and will hear, the strong man of God cause is bound up in the Lord's call to His people at this hour to take sides. Of the many golden calves American churches have built, compromising God's Word on the family, male and female roles in the home and churches is especially wicked. They have given heed to the world and corrupted God's Word to support this idol as did Aaron (Exodus 32:5). Churches, aiding and abetting Satan in destroying humanity's God ordained foundation: families and the men who lead them! Let every man who fears the Lord and is guilty repent while His mercy is still near.
Let every pastor who is guilty repent and issue the Lord's cry to His people you have been entrusted to shepherd and supposedly love. Destroy the golden calves of compromise with the world in your midst. For the destroying angels of God's judgment have already unsheathed their swords and are about to move among the churches to deliver His great displeasure. It is certain; it is done because Christ has already made atonement for the sins of the guilty that have looked to Him. But the rebels who continue defiantly in their way will be plagued by the Lord (Exodus 32:30-35). Who will learn from Bible history and be on the Lord’s side? Let him come to the Lord right now!
As a pastor, I greatly enjoyed preaching and celebrating Christmas in July since doing so pulled its biblical prophetic/historical fulfillment and glorious truths out of the make believe secular cultural trappings of the holidays where it can be more deeply appreciated as the vivid reality it is. The same God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who personally came down to oversee and effect the deliverance of His people from Egyptian bondage, came down again robed in human flesh to save them and all willing men from slavery to sin and death to the glory of God the Father forever (Exodus 3:1-10; John 1:1-34, 12:27-28)!
As He suffered in His work to save us, so, we now suffer as those who labor “in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ” proclaiming and standing on God’s Word and His “testimony,” (Revelation 1:9, NKJV). In this second part of what was originally posted for Christmas 2012, look again to the witness of the saints that have gone before us as well as the “author and finisher of our faith” to be encouraged by Him and His example for what faithful American Christians as a powerless minority are about to endure in step with our brethren in many other nations (Hebrews 11:4-12:2, NKJV).

The silver lining in the incredible reversal of fortune Western Christianity and the faithful minority are suffering in these latter days is that it signals the near completion of God’s unfolding plan that began to be fulfilled at the birth of His Son that first Christmas. Jesus of Nazareth was born in Bethlehem as foretold (Micah 5:2), wrapped in common swaddling cloths and laid in a animal feeding trough by His mother, Mary, accompanied by Joseph, her husband (His surrogate father) that were ethnically, nationally and religiously oppressed as Jews (Luke 2:1-7).1
Shepherds of the lowest class stratum in Israel were sent by God (Luke 2:8-20) and Jesus was brought to a pair of patiently enduring faithful saints so they might behold and rejoice in Him born to save them ultimately from every source of oppression (Luke 2:25-38)! Confirmed in God’s fulfillment, Mary and a relative named Zacharias who was also a priest had earlier rejoiced in His faithfulness too (Luke 1:39-80). Knowing the Son of Mary was the long awaited Champion that was to come and bruise his head, Satan attempted to make a deadly pre-emptive strike against Jesus but God protected Him (Genesis 3:15; Matthew 2)!
As a Nazarene Jew, Jesus would grow up seeing and experiencing all of the bigotry, mistreatment and powerlessness that go with being part of an oppressed minority or nationality ruled over by those of superior numbers or might (He has felt my pain!). During His three and one-half year ministry He would encounter the three major layers of oppression upon His people: the kingdom of this world ruled by Satan, the wicked Roman Empire ruled by Caesar and the spiritually dead religious establishment of Israel ruled by the religious educated elite.
The Lord only directly and mightily engaged the demonic powers of this world oppressing His people with all manner of spiritual deception and affliction and Israel’s religious establishment who oppressed them with cold, dead and corrupt religion until the final hours of His ministry (Luke 4:1-13, 31-41, 5:30-6:11, 13:1-3, 31-33). Along the way in His service of preaching the Gospel and showing the glorious might of the Kingdom in great works of power, the Lord’s own family thought He might be mentally ill and tried to get Him to abandon His mission (Mark 3:20-21, 31-35); His brothers resented and despised Him in unbelief (John 7:1-9).
Not only did the religious rulers of His people want to kill Him, at times, the people wanted to do so too (John 8:48-59). However, the Father protected His Son till the time should come that He would undertake the final decisive part of His mission in which He engaged all three layers of oppression upon His people at once. His successful mission would first rescue the willing by faith among His people and the Gentiles from the tyranny of satanic oppression through sin and death and cause the promised judgment of Satan, “the ruler of this world,” to be another step closer to final fulfillment (John 12:27-33; 16:5-11; Hebrews 2:14-18).
As a minority of One, the Lord Jesus endured all that the prophets wrote in advance about His suffering before and on the cross (Isaiah 50:5-6, 52:13-53:9). He experienced the full oppressive weight of this world system’s might in the work of the powers of darkness through men upon His Person. Truly, for our sakes, they did far more to Jesus than any of His followers have or ever will endure! He even tasted what are now to us who have been born again, the horrors of spiritual death (Psalm 22:1-21a). Then, in accord with His and the Father’s plan, He ended His suffering and died triumphantly declaring the successful conclusion of His mission (John 19:30). His body was immediately buried but on the third day after He arose from the dead never to be subject to death again as foretold (Psalm 16:8-11, 22:21b-31; Isaiah 53:10-12; John 20:1-23).
Now, as the Lord Jesus foretold of His disciples beginning in the 1st century, fulfillment has reached us also that live in the latter days. We are persecuted by the ruler of this world and his human agents including in increasing severity our own unsaved, false and religious professing as well as Christian apostate family members who betray our love--so much for the successful measure of a man’s life being his devoted children (Matthew 10:16-26, 24:9-10). We are not to fear or become discouraged, but stand faithful to Christ as He stood for us until the end (Matthew 10:27-31, 24:13).
For all of the evil of these latter days is permitted by God as the testing of men’s hearts revealing their true loyalties and attitude toward Christ (Deuteronomy 13:1-4; Psalm 7:9-10, 11:4-6; Matthew 10:32-42; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12; Revelation 3:7-13, 14:9-13, 16:15). Truly, as my Christian slave and free forefathers along with all the saints of history have joyfully discovered, the Lord is a comforting refuge for the oppressed and powerless minorities that have put their trust in Him (Psalm 9:9-10). These evil days too will pass for the Lord will prevail for His people who have had the kind of prayer He taught us on our lips and patiently endured waiting on Him (Psalm 10:12-18; Matthew 6:9-13).
1 See my two-part blog, Jesus: The Jewish Messiah originally posted for Christmas 2013 under the category, Holidays, but reposted January 28, 2014 (after a satanic interruption) for a fuller treatment of our Lord as an ethnic Jew.
The Bible’s Book of Judges chronicles historical events and the inconsistent spiritual condition of Israel in the Promised Land after the death of Joshua and before the nation was ruled by a human king. While Joshua and the generation of leaders that entered the land with him lived, the people did well but in disobedience did not subdue all of the inhabitants or their false religions (Judges 1:1-2:10). After those leaders died, the erratic faithfulness of the people to God who was their King in the midst began. When the people turned from the Lord to other gods and all manner of wickedness, He judged them with great adversity and oppression by the surrounding nations.
(I have posted my blog today to enjoy some extra days off celebrating Christmas. The Lord saying the same, I will post my next blog on Sunday, December 29, 2013. Merry Christmas to you and yours!)
