In the opening weeks of 2018, the Lord led me to write about the dire need and His requirement for character among all professed Christian men.1 Now, as a measure of His urgent stress on the issue, in the very first week and post of 2019 I write about the important character trait of integrity even this morally deteriorating world still values to some extent, but apparently not all professed Christians! Integrity with other godly traits of character God values are not just about honoring what pleases Him or modeling the divine image and likeness as a witness as important as these are. In the Spirit’s power, being men of integrity also helps enable our faithful living for Christ.
Microsoft Encarta Dictionary defines integrity in three parts. First, it is “the quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards.” Second, it is “the state of being complete or undivided.” Third, “it is the state of being sound or undamaged.” The Bible incorporates all three aspects of this definition and related synonyms in its use of integrity. For example, Abimelech falsely sought to assure Abraham he was acting with the highest morality toward his wife (Genesis 20:1-7). God charged Solomon to live up to his father’s completely devoted heart (1 Kings 9:4-9). Paul exhorts young Christian men to be sound in doctrine and speech (Titus 2:6-8).
In biblical Christianity, Christians are not to just be known for what we do not do in sin, but what we do in accord with Kingdom righteousness! In His powerful instruction “on a mountain,” the Lord Jesus Christ, our King, teaches among many things that we of the Kingdom are to be men of integrity that need not swear to give authenticity to our words (Matthew 5:1-2, 33-37, NKJV).2 We are honest and truthful as the moral standard of God’s Kingdom; we do not lie because He does not and cannot lie (Numbers 23:19; Titus 1:1-2). And so, as a matter of integrity Christians are not supposed to lie to each other or anyone else; our word is our bond (Colossians 3:9-10).
Telling me what I and the Lord know full well that lying is endemic among professed Christians (hence, this post) does not change the truth of His Word or amend His eternally firm will as some appear foolishly to want to believe. Dishonesty and lying are sin! The sovereign God pure in absolute truth is who He is, has been and will be forever; He does not change (James 1:16-18)! As a result, professed Christian men of integrity not only do not lie, but steal from or cheat anyone nor do they conspire together as many do in the churches to do these things, harm others in any way or cover up sin (Leviticus 19:11, 13, 35-37; Mark 10:17-22; 1 Corinthians 6:1-8; Ephesians 4:28).
This latter business of church leaders and members conspiring to in some way harm others and cover up sin so sadly, but accurately portrayed in many contemporary fictional dramatic films and television shows, is thoroughly scandalous and reprehensible to the Most High God! They clearly forget He hears and sees as He has also enabled them to do (Psalm 94:8-9; Proverbs 20:12). Indeed, the Lord knows the very secrets of their hearts since He searches the hearts of all men to reward each according to their deeds (Jeremiah 17:10; Revelation 2:18-23). This is why it is completely ludicrous to plot or do evil or cover it up thinking no one saw it when in fact the living God who judges did (Psalm 37:12-15; Ecclesiastes 12:14; Romans 1:29-2:16; 2 Corinthians 5:9-11)!
The Bible is filled with examples of men and women with a lack of integrity as a momentary or lifestyle issue that God exposed and dealt with. Adam and Eve “sewed fig leaves together” in an attempt to cover up their sin guilt and shame before God (Genesis 3:6-11, 16-17 NKJV). Achan let Joshua go through an extended process to discover him as the one guilty of sin in the camp (Joshua 7:10-26). David conspired to murder Bathsheba’s husband after he got her pregnant (2 Samuel 11:1-17, 12:1-15). Jezebel conspired to steal a field for her husband (1 Kings 21). Religious leaders conspired to murder Christ, Ananias and Sapphira to deceive the church about their property sale proceeds and magistrates to cover up Paul’s mistreatment (Matthew 26:1-5; Acts 5:1-11, 16:16-40).
Now, if it is all like that from Scripture, ought we not all that profess to be Christians to take due warning? God expects His sons to be men of integrity who are always joyfully conscious of His living presence within and seek to please Him by living holy, righteous, transparently honest and truthful lives. Rather than attempting to hide or cover up our sins to our hurt knowing God knows (Numbers 32:20-23; Luke 12:1-3) and certainly not sharing in the sinful deeds of others (1 Timothy 5:22), we instead, confess and repent from our sins as they occur to obtain forgiveness and cleansing (Psalm 32:1-5; 1 John 1:5-10); rising up afresh to welcome God’s inescapable work of building Christ’s holy character traits in us such as integrity. Therefore, let the guilty repent now (2 Corinthians 7:1-12)!
In being men of character generally and integrity in particular through the power of the Holy Spirit, professed Christian men are enabled to live faithfully, pleasing God and doing His will as His aspiring strong men in the image of Christ; standing out brightly “as lights” in an ever darkening world (Philippians 2:12-16, NKJV).3 Such men also welcomed and allowed to flourish in the churches as leaders obedient to Christ’s command to “love one another” surely will not think themselves lofty enough before the Lord to justify conspiring to deceive, manipulate, cheat, mistreat or otherwise harm any of God’s people especially through sinful, manmade religious rules or cover up anyone’s sin including their own (John 15:12; Romans 13:8-10; 1 John 3:10-23, 4:7-12, 20-5:3, NKJV). The risen, living Christ continues His cry among American churches, "Who is on the Lord's side?"

2 Not because He needed to as the writer of Hebrews instructs, but only to give double confirmation to Abraham and his heirs that He would do as He promised, God
swore an oath (Hebrews 6:11-20).
3 The Lord leads me to present the character traits of Christ He wills to build in redeemed men in my book, The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics and its compan-
ion instructional resource, The Strong Man Of God Men’s Group Study. Both are available in the Strong Man Store. Incidentally, I name Nehemiah in the book and
men’s group study as among the Bible’s many aspiring strong men of God in the image of Christ that are men of integrity. New Testament stand outs beyond the
apostles include Joseph, the Lord’s surrogate father and Simeon (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 2:25-35).
One of our readers this past week became the one millionth to read this Blog since its launch on this Web Site back on January 28, 2014. While one million is small potatoes in the blog universe, having been a pastor that considered six people in Sunday service a good day during one of the lowest points in my ministry, I fully appreciate all that turn aside each week to read what the Lord has given me to write. To God be the glory! It is exactly because I have been around churches a long time that I am able as the Lord leads to write about what I have seen and heard as I do in another post this week on character featuring an edited 2011 Commentary.

Serving the Lord and His churches over the past thirty years I have found a troubling lack of consistent courage among too many leaders in standing for the truth and righteousness of God's Word. Many of these men--pastors and denominational leaders--will stand firm and even get ugly defending or protecting concerns for which they have a personal stake. However, in the face of potential suffering for taking a stand for God's Word, I have seen no small number wimp out as a matter of course.1 While I also have had my instances of failed courage standing for God's Word, spiritual and moral timidity among men appears to be rife and growing in our churches and nation today.
Next month Sherwood Pictures, the Christian film studio operated by Sherwood Baptist Church of Albany, Georgia and producers of the greatly acclaimed Fireproof, will release another excellent picture focusing on men, Courageous. The movie weaves together the lives of four police officers and one Hispanic construction worker. It opens with an incredible display of courage by a black officer. After tragedy strikes the family of one of the white officers, the men begin meeting to challenge themselves to a higher standard of commitment to their families and character. Their commitments are tested requiring each to live up to the courage of his commitment. One of the men does fail.
I highly recommend Courageous be seen by men (especially with their families) most importantly for its attempt to restore the sense of honor that used to attend the display of courage by men on and off battlefields. Important also (in light of my July 2011 Commentary)2 is the film’s intentional effort to show white, black and brown men equally called upon to display the character trait of courage. The film does not sugar coat the reality that acting in the courage of your convictions may cost you as I have painfully experienced in my years of ministry. Even so, when the conviction one has is of the cause, truth and righteousness of Christ in God's Word, I am learning it is worth it.
Courage is defined in Webster's Dictionary as "the ability to face danger without fear." Lack of courage has caused many of the leaders I have known over the years not to stand with or help me in my ministry for fear of exposure as spiritual frauds or hypocrites, the loss of jobs, comfortable lives etc. while knowing my work and message are biblically solid. The Bible is filled with examples of men that stood in the courage of their convictions, suffered for it, but were rewarded by God. Among them are Joseph who would not commit adultery (Genesis 39, 41:38-45), David who slew Goliath (1 Samuel 17:26-51), Daniel who defied a king (Daniel 6) and Christ, death (John 2:18-22).
The aspiring strong man of God will be taught courage by Him as a matter of building into us the character of Christ. Indeed, courage is one of twelve character traits of Christ I write about in The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics that God forms in willing Christian men through the crucible of painful life experiences.3 This is why it has been so troubling to me about the many pastors and leaders I have encountered that have lacked not only the courage of conviction, but other basic character traits of Christ such as humility, obedience, faithfulness, zeal and integrity. The Bible is clear; God does not give any of His true sons a pass on possessing the character of Christ.4
It is God’s express will that we be “conformed to the image of His Son,” (Romans 8:29, NKJV). Christ’s character is also the purposeful mission of His discipline in our lives (Hebrews 12:3-11; 2 Peter 1:1-8). So, either the spiritually timid men I speak of have been outright religious impostors or they are stubbornly resisting God's character building program which the apostle Peter indicates is not at all a good thing (2 Peter 1:9-11). This resistance is no doubt a major reason so many of our leaders fall into sin bringing shame upon themselves, Christ and His Church. It is also why so many of the men under them in the churches rise no higher in the faith than they have.
The courage of conviction and boldness to speak or act accordingly comes from the Lord and is to characterize the lives of His aspiring strong men as we “stand fast” in Him (Acts 4:13-31; 2 Thessalonians 2:15, NKJV).5 Unless professed Christian men do step up in droves aspiring to be strong men of God in the image of Christ that possess among their character traits His courage, American Christianity will continue its slide into irrelevance. Unprepared to stand fast in the severely trying days shortly ahead, many will be destroyed in the cowardice of apostasy (Matthew 10:24-33, 13:20-21; Revelation 14:9-13, 21:7-8). Not so God’s aspiring strong men (Hebrews 10:38-39)! The risen, living Christ continues His cry among American churches, "Who is on the Lord's side?"

The Lord came to me during my time of Bible study on the morning of October 24, 2017 as I reflected on the condition of our nation asking, “Watchman, what do you see?” I said, “I see a house divided collapsing in on itself and there is no stopping it!” Then there was silence except for the noise of my scramble for a pen to write down what just happened. Would to God that the collapse in progress could be halted, but the authoritative teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ is always and eternally true (Matthew 12:22-26; 24:35)! Many see what I saw, but that old reliable crutch, denial, with mostly self-centered reasons continues to be their comforting fall back.
Among the legion of demonic and sin inspired causes America is a collapsing house divided is the falling away of the secular news media from its benchmark standards of journalism. Gone are the days last names like Murrow and Cronkite stood not only for professional journalistic excellence, but integrity, objectivity, political and social neutrality. Today, it is very clear the dominant players in the secular news media produce news that at times has been deceitfully constructed and slanted subjectively toward a political and socially liberal point of view. Political correctness, tolerance and feminism are in; biblical morality and views are out when true neutrality should favor neither.1
With few exceptions the secular news media’s adoption of all things 21st century politically and socially liberal in agenda has made its star reporters come across as hostile antagonists in their reporting on those not in sync with that agenda, rather than as aggressive protagonists in pursuit of the truth in the legacy of Murrow. Its reporters are also in the vanguard of a major resurgence of self-righteousness as every human failure of any kind and even disasters from the natural order allowed or brought by God must have blame and retribution assigned to someone as if those reporting have no faults or failures at all. When the Lord led me to write this 2011 edited repost, the sample issue was sexual harassment accusations against then Presidential candidate, Herman Cain.
Since then it has been Bill Cosby and now, Harvey Weinstein. The spectacle is sickening to watch as reporters press their agenda and look for scoops to further their careers along with their bosses' ratings, dollars, awards and bragging rights. As one of the Lord’s watchmen, I understand having an agenda, advocacy and rebuke in writing since I bear His either directly or by inspiration in mine. His goal through me is typically repentance of the guilty beginning always with me as the messenger. For this reason, though many still consider me offensively “in your face,” trust me, tempered by my own failings, I have not said everything the way I have wanted to say it! In this repost, plainly see another reason our divided nation is collapsing and hear the Lord if self-righteousness is an issue for you.

What a blessing we have had in America historically to have had a free press. Journalism was once a noble profession where there were high ethical standards. Getting the facts, being objective and fair were among the values the great journalistic enterprises lived by. Who knows all of the reasons those standards have gone by the wayside--though no doubt, some will argue they still live by them. The case of Presidential candidate Herman Cain illustrates my concern. The media swarmed all over the accusations of sexual harassment against him not caring to get the facts, but determined in a sensational feeding frenzy to make him confess guilt.
Let me be clear, I am not in any way endorsing Herman Cain or trivializing legitimate sexual harassment or the new charge by a woman saying they had a long time affair. However, with the heart of my God I am crying out against the resurgence and hypocrisy of self-righteousness in our society and the media in particular. Journalists (who are nothing more than sinful human beings with press passes) hunt down, harass, browbeat, accuse, convict and sentence the principals in their stories with all of the heartless gusto of the religious leaders who brought the woman caught in adultery to the Lord Jesus. After first making them wait, the Lord declared, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first,” (John 8:1-12, NKJV). No one did and all walked away.
The Lord in no way condoned the woman’s sin in this incident. However, He forced the self-righteous religious leaders to consider if they were to be held accountable by God on the spot for their own sins, they would be condemned. The Lord would also remind us and our news media of this truth. For us, tell the truth about sin, but do so understanding we are sinners too that need after the truth is told, a place of brokenness, repentance, mercy and forgiveness. For the media, pursue your story, be objective, get and report the facts in a neutral and fair way to all sides. Do this keeping in mind if all of your own sins were known, you too would be condemned. These are the ways of the aspiring strong man and great woman of God in the image of Christ I write about in my book, The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics.2
1 In actuality, while historically free from government control, the American press as part of its fabric has always reflected societal mores as was the case prior to this anti- Christian era when they were strongly influenced by Judeo-Christian values. From such mores were drawn its own formerly high standards of journalistic character such as integrity and interest in factual truth men such as Murrow and Cronkite adhered to.

Joe Biden was sworn in this past Wednesday, January 20th as the forty-sixth President of the United States. This reality happened despite weeks of disputing the election results and widely declared pre- and post-election prophetic assurances supposedly from the Lord through professed Christian prophets, prophetesses and well known evangelical personalities that Donald Trump would remain in office. The voices making these prophetic declarations obviously all got it wrong. Clearly too, they all uttered their prophecies at cross-purposes with God. So, how did they get it wrong and what should the biblical response of the Body of Christ be to these false prophets?
As it turns out, this is a final post in a series the Lord has led me to write concerning especially professed Christian conservatives praying and teaching at cross-purposes with Him.1 This situation hits home and hard for me. This is because of the struggle I have had since surrendering to Christ in February 1979 first with ignorance as a babe about serving Him in the prophetic ministry He began to quicken in me with the foundational burden for His Church (Ezekiel 8; Revelation 1:9-3:22).2 After that, it was trying to understand the burden, gifting and ministry in the context of Baptist churches that did not recognize the biblical calling and a seminary education that falsely rendered it obsolete.
I have written several posts over the years chronicling my mostly negative experiences among the churches and giving biblical instruction on the gift of prophecy along with the prophetic ministry Heaven will not retire until the Lord Jesus returns!3 I know well the temptation to speak what God has not spoken to me. My saving grace to date has been a healthy fear of God and being wrong with a number of close calls (fulfillment is not always immediate) since according to the standard He gave for those He uses in the prophetic ministry, proof the words they speak have come from Him is their consistent accuracy (Deuteronomy 18:9-22; Matthew 26:31-35, 47-56, 69-75; Acts 11:27-30).
The temptation to prophesy what is not from the Lord arises from two related desires: to please people in telling them what they want to hear and self to the same end. The Lord led me to write about our desires as the core means Satan uses to tempt and deceive any gullible or unguarded Christian into sin no matter how far along in the faith.4 False prophets telling the people what they wanted to hear and out of their own hearts as a living in ancient Israel was condemned by God through His faithful prophets (Jeremiah 14:10-16, 23:9-15). While the false prophets cried “peace,” God’s faithful warned of judgment and charged the people to repent (Jeremiah 23:16-22, NKJV)!
Being on the king’s payroll gave financial incentive to tell him only what the false prophets knew he wanted to hear. It took faith in God, a genuine calling complete with divine encounter, courage and fortitude in suffering to stand often alone 450 to 1 to speak God’s prophetic Word as did Elijah (1 Kings 17:1-7, 18:1-46) and Micaiah who was outnumbered 400 to 1(1 Kings 22:1-18).5 The false prophets prophesied lies out of their own hearts to please the king. Indeed, as Micaiah revealed in his situation, God had even permitted “a lying spirit” to come to and help the false prophets along in their utterance; bringing about the downfall of the king as God willed (1 King 22:19-40, NKJV).
This latter thing has happened before our very eyes within professing Christianity here in America during the just passed Presidential election and interim transition to the next President. Men and women among the ranks of professed Christians that are politically conservative and purportedly operate in the prophetic and word of knowledge gifting were so intent on a Trump second term, they were captured on video in various settings prophesying to and over him supposedly from God with that aim. Aware of the biblical lying spirit incident, one of the prophets is quoted acknowledging this as the only way they could be wrong.6 Pleasing like-minded donors and absorbed with them in the idolatrous delusion of American perpetuity and rabid patriotism seems to have been the major drivers.
Searching out their own motives and publicly confessing the sin with contrition and repentance is what I pray each saved one who uttered false prophesy on now, former President Trump’s behalf will do, since you have given the Lord’s enemies cause to mock, misled His flock and brought shame on the prophetic ministry. The faithful should restore such ones with mercy though having come short of the Lord’s standard, never again receive a prophecy from them!7 For the rest who have made a career out of trafficking in false prophecy and refuse to repent, the Lord calls you ‘“foolish’” and declares, ‘“I am indeed against you.’” You will suffer His judgment on earth and eternally for prophesying falsehood at cross-purposes with God (Ezekiel 13; 2 Peter 2:1-17; Jude 10-13, NKJV).
Seeing then, that false prophets are and will remain among us until the end as forewarned by our Lord Jesus Christ and His apostles, the faithful must be vigilant in discernment to recognize and deal with them (Matthew 7:15-23, 24:11, 23-28; 1 Thessalonians 5:20-22; 1 John 4:1-6; Revelation 13:11-18, 16:13, 19:19-21). Finally also, as a wrap up to this series receive the Word the Lord gave me back on September 6, 2020 for our times. In reply to and firm rebuke of my prayer offered in frustration from a long wait on His guidance for my life circumstances, the Lord sent me to hear Him from Jeremiah 45. I was humbled, repentant and good! The next day the globally heard about fierce winds and firestorms descended upon our Northwest region that brought choking smoke for weeks.8

5 This is beyond incredible in this land of majority rule! For this cause all of the Lord’s faithful prophets and prophetesses in the Bible fulfill the definition of the aspiring
strong man and great woman of God I write about respectively in my book, The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics published by Open Door Communication Minis-

7 1 Corinthians 14:29-32. It is situations like this that the Lord shows His amazing grace and another of His tough standards: love (2 Corinthians 2:1-11). For here He
has me calling for the faithful to show mercy to largely guilty whites that repent from sin (imperfection does not give Christians a pass from sin guilt that must be con-
fessed and repented of to be forgiven by God) knowing that if it were me as a black man, it would not be as readily forthcoming. As a matter of fact, though the Lord
has caused me to accurately declare His written prophetic Word as well as that which has been extemporaneous, I have been treated as if I have been a guilty false
prophet especially by many whites that consider me inferior because of my black skin, but not to exclude the many who share my skin color out of pride and the psy-
chological legacy of self-hate (removable in Christ) from our American experience to date that will not allow us to easily regard one another.
8 It turns out the multi-year wait for the Lord’s guidance from Jeremiah 45 had been before me all along. I was just not willing to receive it. What about you?
After addressing the strategic use of television specifically to advance the evil cause of rebellion against God and His Anointed, He now leads me to speak to the use of the medium by professing Christianity.1 With a degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting, graduate degree in Communication and over thirty-five years in the field mostly heading up a small media ministry in the express will and facilitation of the Lord, He has qualified me to speak and so, I do in this urgent latter day post. In days soon to come, Christian broadcasting will be globally targeted for eradication which is why it must be maximized now in its use for God’s causes in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
To the credit of the initial Christian visionaries that understood God’s purposeful, creative hand in, vision for and use of the unfolding means of mass communication over the past century, there is such a thing as Christian broadcasting. For while the pioneers of radio and television broadcasting desperate for program content were initially welcoming of what was called religious programming mostly from Christian churches and their denominations, by the middle of the 1960s this began to slowly change due to the rising costs of production and air time and commercialism as well as the cultural shift toward secularism hostile to Christianity.
Television in particular--which provides pictures and sound--had such potential for good in the Kingdom cause of God to disseminate the Gospel of His Son and biblical instruction throughout the earth. This meant not only the opportunity to have men stand to preach and teach God’s Word, but to also be creative through such arts as drama. I feel blessed to be part of a unique generation that grew up watching the low tech clay animation of Davey and Goliath that presented important high moral lessons. The show was produced by the United Lutherans and featured the memorable hymn, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God, written by their famous founder, Martin Luther, as the theme music.
Nevertheless, the staple of Christian television fare has been worship services by large churches along with the preaching and teaching of their well known clergy. These churches and their denominational entities also provided holiday specials and helped to sponsor the televised specials of Evangelists such as the now departed Billy Graham, who was a trailblazer in the use of radio and television. Others in the Christian television vanguard include the also departed Paul Crouch, founder of the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) and Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). Together, these have all given Christian television its global presence.
Christian television’s global presence has not come without some scandal. Most Christian television networks feature so-called televangelists that dominate their programming schedules because they pay for the air time. But this has led to much and in some cases, questionable fundraising due to extravagant lifestyles bred of success.2 There has also been sensational heretical and conflicting teaching as well as sinful cultural compromises such as with feminism that allows women to take authority over and teach men.3 Nondenominational stations and networks that dominate the Christian broadcasting landscape are hesitant to deal with these issues (if they in guilt too will at all) because of the loss of income involved in removing paying customers from the air.
While all of the foregoing damages the integrity of Christian television, the continuing Babel and cultural compromises undermine what is supposed to be its unified message and imagery of the Christian Gospel in action (1 Corinthians 1:10; Ephesians 4:1-6)! The biblical Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) is not heard enough, though, the Christian programmers, television stations and networks all claim they exist to preach it globally; endlessly raising money supposedly to this end. Instead, unlike worldly programmers of sin who do all say and show the same thing, many professed Christian preachers pitch their own conflicting takes on the Gospel and God’s Word as they compete for followers and dollars (Acts 20:30); exporting their Babel and unbiblical compromises to the nations!
As television is supposed to do, this televised unbiblical and confused state of affairs precisely mirrors the spreading harlotries and spiritual dysfunction in American Christianity; a situation that no one of sound mind and Word should attempt to defend. For whatever good there may currently be in Christian television, it has so much greater potential in saying the same thing as it concerns the soul saving Gospel message and being consistently biblical as a divinely useful tool of dissemination. It is to the glory of God that there is indeed, some good on Christian television. Of late, TBN, for example, has made major creative inroads in children’s, youth and ethnic programming on several dedicated networks.4 CBN has the only major professionally produced Christian News program on television.
Even so, repentance from tolerating Babel and compromise is absolutely needed to most effectively use the medium now. Enemies of the cross are shortly to target Christian television and all Christian media in the ramping up of foretold global persecution (Matthew 24:9). This is because in modern warfare, the means of mass communication are seized or knocked out as a priority. Christian persecutors up to and including the Antichrist will be allowed by God to finally silence all means of humanly communicating the Christian message (involving the Gospel, biblical truth and prophecy) in opposition to their own (Daniel 8:23-26; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12; Revelation 13). But God will get His message to the world by an angel one last time before bringing His wrath (Revelation 14:6-7)!5 The risen, living Christ continues His cry among American churches, "Who is on the Lord's side?"

Still thinking about young 21st century church planters,1 I am not unaware that many do set out with sincere determination to answer God’s call to go, preach the Gospel, make disciples and plant a church. However, some go wrong when they start to believe it depends more on them than God. As a result, they seek to help the Lord and speed up the process of church building with people pleasing compromises of God’s Word and flesh generated ideas. In this edited 2010 Commentary, the Lord leads me to remind all of us that He is concerned about the end and the means. Aspiring strong men of God in the image of Christ are to never do evil to bring about His intended good end.

In the world and among many Christians today, the end is exceedingly more important than the means used to arrive at it. Justifying the means by the end as a philosophy has saturated every fabric of our society. The character and specifically integrity of Christ in the aspiring strong man of God, precludes his compromising what is right in the sight of the Lord to arrive at even the noblest of ends.2 He knows God is just as much concerned about the means to the end as He is the end itself.
Having abandoned a biblical worldview of life and morality, athletes cheat using performance enhancing drugs for fame and bigger paydays. Teachers adjust student test scores to the end of showing progress and keeping their jobs. Activist judges hide behind legalese and formality to advance immoral social agendas in important rulings while lawmakers bribe each other with money deals to pass needed legislation. Corrupt preachers twist God's Word to justify covetous desires while deacons and trustees steal church money to pay themselves for their hard work. Churches tolerate the known immoral lifestyles of choir members and musicians to keep services jumping.
Professed Christians justify disobedience to God's Word to show the world they love them. The Bible's steps to salvation through repentance and faith are altered by the same folk to fill churches with warm, unsaved bodies. After all, the end game is packed out church worship services. Professed Christian mothers murder their children in the womb to justify timing issues and career ambitions. The Lord, they say, "understands my situation." Professed Christian men lie, steal and commit other crimes justifying their deeds by claiming expediency in the need of the moment. Never mind that the Lord they profess to follow taught no such precept or set an endorsing example.
Indeed, the Lord Jesus Christ was given many opportunities to achieve ends by varying means other than what His Father laid out for Him. For example, at the outset of His ministry He was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by the devil (Matthew 4:1-11). After He had completed a 40-day food fast, the Lord was very hungry. The devil approached and suggested He turn stones into bread to prove He was the Son of God. But the Lord told him, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God,'" (Matthew 4:4, NKJV). Interestingly, Jesus had no concern here about being legalistic as He declared God’s Word!
It is also clear the Lord was not going to prove Himself or use His own power to satisfy His need. He would wait and rely on His Father for all of His needs! In the evil thinking of our day, many would be okay with the Lord Jesus taking care of His need for food and showing off His power to boot in order to silence the devil. But the devil would not have been silenced. As the accuser, he would have immediately charged the Lord with acting independent of His Father and sin for he also knew the Scriptures. The means the Lord would have used to the ends of eating and proving His identity was not righteous. He, therefore, chose not to use it!
The other two temptations the devil brought thereafter were likewise designed to get the Lord Jesus to achieve ends by means that were wicked. In those cases too, the Lord refused to do so standing on and honoring God's written Word! Even in the final hours before His suffering when He sought the Father if there might yet be another means to save us, He submitted to His Father's no and went to the cross as the noblest of ends ever in the history of the world (Matthew 26:36-46). Every aspiring strong man of God in the image of Jesus Christ must in like manner willfully choose moment by moment to achieve every end by means that will also please our heavenly Father. The risen, living Christ continues His cry among American churches, "Who is on the Lord's side?"

Thank God that churches where Jesus is Lord do not pick men and women to serve as they see fit, but rely on God who has established spiritual gifts as the way He calls and equips His servants to serve! Globally known evangelist, Billy Graham is among those from the 1st century God has called and equipped by spiritual gifting to serve Him through the Body of Christ. I wrote the following blog as the Lord led to be of some support during the launch of what turned out to be yet another fruitful evangelistic campaign to our nation from the Graham team that continues. After repentance and revival, pastors and churches would do well to engage with them in this effort.
Another important reason I originally wrote this blog and present it as an edited repost now is to highlight again how willful pastor and church ignorance about spiritual gifts get in God’s way; hindering the work He wants to do through His servants like Billy Graham. No one delights more in hindering the work of God than Satan! Imagine his glee at having churches do his dirty work for him by overstepping the Holy Spirit in casting aside spiritual gifts and attempting to deploy members into invented religious service after fleshy wisdom and preference. In great joy I thank God that Billy Graham did not listen to flesh driven men in his service, but to Him as I have also done!

If there were anyone that qualified to be our nation’s spiritually wise grandfather with the right and clout to speak to us at such a time as this, it is certainly Billy Graham. Without question, Rev. Graham is a God gifted and called evangelist (Acts 8:4-5, 26-40, 21:8; Ephesians 4:11) and the greatest of post 1st century history in terms of reach and impact around the earth. Men like me “do the work of an evangelist” along with other ministry responsibilities (2 Timothy 4:5, NKJV). However, Billy Graham is a full-time, all the time preacher and witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the burning passion from Him to win souls!
Born in North Carolina on a dairy farm, Rev. Graham was himself won to Christ in a revival meeting as a youth. He answered God’s call to preach and evangelism and by 1949 had assembled a team that conducted a history making evangelistic Crusade in Los Angeles, CA. It lasted eight weeks and saw many hundreds come to Christ. In those days the secular media took note of the young evangelist and before long word spread around the nation about his fiery delivery of the simple Gospel message. He drew crowds in the tens of thousands in crusades on every continent and in many major cities at the height of his labor.
Noteworthy too is the favor God gave to Rev. Graham among the churches across denominational lines, though his lifelong affiliation is with Southern Baptists. He rallied the churches in the cities of his crusades to pray for, financially support and participate in them. I was privileged to participate as a decision counselor in a Billy Graham Crusade that came to San Jose, CA in the early eighties through the Emmanuel Baptist Church where I was a member at the time. During his nearly half a century of service Rev. Graham became known as “God’s ambassador to the world” and was spiritual advisor to American Presidents from Harry S. Truman to George W. Bush.
Billy Graham also broke racial harmony building ground in publically urging white Christians to repent from racism.2 He endorsed the non-violent work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As a man of God, he stood tall as a role model in setting standards of humility, integrity and propriety with women that I as one of his admirers continue to emulate. For all of the fruitful labor and good God has used Rev. Graham to bring forth as a full-time evangelist, I stagger at the thought of what might have happened if he had listened to those early on in his young career that would keep him close to the local church to prove his loyalty to its program.
Similarly, other voices among the churches and in denominational circles would also attempt to pigeon hole him as a pastor; confining him to their unbiblical view of what “a call to preach” really means as has happened to me in my own Scriptural calling as a watchman/prophet. Billy Graham--as do all His gifted and called servants--served at the pleasure of God, not mortal flesh and as a result, stands as a towering Christian figure; an excellent example of an aspiring strong man of God in the image of Christ in our times who has earned the right to be heard nationally one last time in these latter days!
Therefore, whether you are participating in Billy Graham’s My Hope America through your local church or not (many churches have chosen not to be involved), I urge you to join me in praying for it.3 Pray that many souls will be won to the Lord through Rev. Graham and this broadcast as the Gospel is presented simply and clearly one more time by the devoted heart of a truly God called evangelist on a national platform. Otherwise, there is no one of his stature to command the cooperating media involvement he is getting now in the future. Indeed, most of the secular networks and cable systems are not participating in this broadcast event.4
Given the times, perhaps the next voices to command even global audiences for the authentic proclamation of the Gospel are God’s two witnesses who are prophets and finally, a holy angel (Revelation 11:1-14, 14:6-7). For this cause, pray also that God will be able to light a spark of revival among Christians as we understand with this broadcast how extraordinary it and the hour are. Thank you for your faithful service, Rev. Graham, and happy birthday!

2 Current events have clearly nullified the hostile conservative white evangelical put down of bringing up the charge of continuing racism among them and their churches
as playing “the race card.” Once again, the silence during an opportune time to proclaim and display a biblical worldview that black and all lives matter to God is
deafening. Billy Graham's call to repentance from racism then, is still appropriate now and required by God to be in the mix of all the sinful ways of the guilty to be
repented of before revival comes to them.
3 Oregon Regional Coordinator for the campaign, Ken Ramey is quoted in the November issue of Christian News Northwest as saying that “only one in every 12 churches
nationally knows about it.” He goes on to say the Graham team had met their goal to have 25,000 churches participate. For the entire article, Billy Graham My Hope
America Campaign enlists hundreds of Northwest churches, go to http://cnnw.com/2013/11/.
4 Three years later, if this year’s wicked race for President is any indicator of where our nation is at and going spiritually, then, in this reality taken seriously as it should be,
I humbly submit the Graham national evangelistic effort to all Americans using secular media in the mix is--barring divine intervention--truly the last of its kind as the Lord
led me to warn.
