In the leadership and power of the Holy Spirit I am endeavoring to live out my life and labor in ministry with a biblical worldview toward everything since the Bible is God’s eternal Word (Isaiah 40:8)! I make this statement understanding there are many worldviews out there including those that are Christian. Indeed, knowing the confusion created by the historic division, rebellion, corruption, compromise and scholarly arrogance within the ranks of professing Christianity, I am comfortably anchored and “blessed” in a biblical worldview as the Spirit leads to enable my continued objective and consistent interpretation and application of God’s Word as it is written (Psalm 119:1-8, NKJV)!
For my critics in and outside of professing Christianity, I do know very well the world does not work the way the Bible says it ought. But the world can never out righteous or do the living God! Therefore, for the world to admit it does not operate as the Bible prescribes is to confirm God’s plainly and repeatedly stated cause for His coming wrath (Romans 1:18-32). The world in rebellion has not improved upon God’s truth in the least bit. Instead, the world in rebellion against God and His Word along with the professed Christians following after it has plunged itself into ruin and “is passing away.” “But he who does the will of God” from a biblical worldview “abides forever,” (1 John 2:17, NKJV)!
For this reason with the Psalmist “I have chosen the way of truth;” I will even “run the course of” God’s “commandments” and trusting His Word, “the word of truth,” I will “keep” it “continually, forever and ever,” (Psalm 119:29-34, 42-44, NKJV)! Truly, the Psalmist and I are far from alone in this. Every Bible writer and all of the godly characters to include Jesus Christ in it take God’s Word to heart as biblical conservatives--presenting, interpreting, applying and preserving it as it is written; living in and serving God out of a biblical worldview. And when I stumble in my quest to faithfully live out a biblical worldview through sin, like a child learning to ride a bicycle who falls off, I get back on the bicycle in accord with God’s Word (Psalm 119:57-60; 1 John 1:5-2:2).
So now, are you maintaining a biblical worldview exclusively or do you possess a hodgepodge of worldviews rooted in rejection of God’s Word as it is written as I have far too often found among professed Christians? Your answer reveals your future (Psalm 37:37-38)!
(I will be taking Sunday, September 5th off as my Labor Day rest with thanks to God. He willing, my next post will appear on September 12th. Have a safe, well and restful Labor Day.)
What does the racially motivated murders of the black American Bible study participants at the Emmanuel AME Church of Charleston, SC on June 17th and the June 26th United States Supreme Court decision making same sex marriage the law of the land have in common spiritually and morally speaking? Both expose again the failure of corrupt manmade Christianity the religion historically practiced by an influential majority of professing white Christians of all denominations that have sanctioned, even cherished the privileges of racial inequality and inequity which secular champions of political correctness and tolerance are wrong-headedly attempting to fix.
If with truly converted hearts in the power of the Holy Spirit the early colonists, founders of the nation and those going forward had stood firmly in the biblical worldview that the equality of humanity as persons was of God, the inequalities of racism even in slavery would not have been (Ephesians 6:5-9; Philemon). In the flesh though, religious men do no better than rank sinners and are actually worse since they corruptly use religion to justify their wicked ways. So, now, our nation--built on a flawed religiously constructed and supported foundation of racial inequality and inequity upheld for almost four centuries by the professing stewards of Christianity in their churches and seminaries--seeks to correct things by making everything equal and fair in its own flawed worldly view.
In a biblical worldview all apparent inequalities and inequities are not the same. God considers goodwill relations between human beings different from intimate same sex relationships since by His design we are expressly male and female for His purpose of procreation (Genesis 1:27-28). Also, while the eternally perfect God requires men to act by His standard of fairness in our transactions with each other, His standard does not apply to what He has forbidden nor in disagreement are we to invent our own (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13; Isaiah 29:15-16). Therefore, many talk defiantly now, but they will bow in absolute humiliation at the soon glorious appearing of the righteous Author of the Word of God and our Judge (Matthew 5:17-20; Philippians 2:9-11; Revelation 1:7-8)!
In the following still relevant July 4th 2011 commentary from our Ministry’s Strong Man Of God Monthly Newsletter as this week’s blog, I appeal with Christ’s heart especially to my conservative professing Christian white brothers that are guilty to thoroughly renounce your racism still so evident in your default attitudes of racial superiority and contempt as well as deeds of exclusion and discrimination bound up in maintaining racial inequality and inequity.

Ever since broaching the subject of equality in my commentary entitled, Childish Arguments back in March this year (see my May 3, 2015 blog), I have been deeply desirous before the Lord to deal with the issue head on and as fully as this limited space permits. The same goes for equity or fairness. Both of these biblical and highly moral terms have been co-opted and corrupted by various individuals and groups since the founding of our nation. Consequently, it is very fitting on the occasion of America's 235th birthday to call us back as a nation to the original intent of the Author of equality and equity for He is surely judging us at this hour for our failure to live out His definitions.
How high, noble and true are the words of the Declaration of Independence that declare, "all men are created equal." The words are true not because sinful men said so, but because a holy Creator made all humanity from the one man, Adam (Acts 17:24-26). No one man is innately superior in nature to another. Though to suit His creative glory God made mankind of different physical appearance and varying abilities, we are all from the one original man and equal in standing before our Creator. There is no qualitative difference between men when God the Righteous One is doing the judging. However, when fallen, sinful men judge, now all manner of human inequality enters in.
Some contemporary white historical commentators such as David Barton and David Von Drehle in a recent Time Magazine article on the Civil War assert the "all men are created equal" statement was an attempt by the nation's founders to address the reality of human inequality involved in slavery.1, 2 In American style slavery a whole race of people were deemed inferior and suitable only for perpetual servitude. The attitude of contempt and judgment as unfit for equality held toward blacks by many whites has continued to this day even with an African-American President. Shamefully, among those whites has been and are many professing to be Christians (Galatians 3:26-28).
The moral concept of equity has come to man from the Lord as He introduced to Israel His requirement of their being just in their dealings with strangers and each other (Leviticus 19:33-37; Deuteronomy 25:13-16). The Lord Jesus came along and emphasized loving one's neighbor (whoever that human being was) as one's self as the motivation for fair dealings and then some (Mark 12:31; Luke 6:27-36, 10:25-37). The apostle Paul was later inspired by the Holy Spirit to explain the absolute reason for love as the high motive in human relations when he wrote, "Love does no harm to a neighbor," (Romans 13:10a, NKJV). Sinful humanity does not naturally possess this kind of love.
The history of slavery, Jim Crow segregation and institutional racism in America clearly demonstrates how human hearts filled with contempt for others will not treat them with equity. A devastating Civil War had to be fought to end slavery. Legal battles continue to reverse institutionalized racial inequities throughout American society. While white men chafe under the finger of responsibility for much of this ungodly legacy of American racial inequity, there is nowhere else to look historically since the Women's Suffrage Movement is evidence white women were not in control of society. This is not said to blame for blame’s sake but to call the right persons forward to lead to action.
As the Civil Rights Movement taught us, we cannot legislate our way into what the nation’s founders had in mind for us as a free and equal people. We must love our way into it. And since as fallen sinners we are not able or willing in our own strength to love each other equally and fairly, then what we are really talking about is turning back to God for help (Ephesians 3:14-21). Therefore, this is a special call to my Christian white brothers and pastors in particular as aspiring strong men of God in the image of Christ. Lead out in owning and repenting from the historic sinful attitude and willful practice of treating black and other racial minority men unequally and unfairly.
Indeed, it is because of the half-hearted effort to do this in racial reconciliation talks that have gone on since the 1960s Satan has been enabled to co-opt the righteous equality and equity quest of racial minority men for rebels against the divine order. Talking and public platitudes have yielded so very little given how pervasive this evil is in our nation and the churches. The hour grows late and time is running out to get this right. True repentance is reflected in deeds as John the Baptist chided the religious leaders of his day (Matthew 3:4-10). Therefore, let the loving begin in obedience to the Lord's command (John 13:34-35; 1 John 2:7-11, 3:10-23, 4:7-21)! The risen, living Christ continues His cry among American churches, "Who is on the Lord's side?"

The Word of God is as plainly stated as it can be from Genesis to Revelation about what a man and woman are; their order, roles and responsibilities. It is equally clear there is only one divinely appointed organism on earth from the first century A.D. that God has directly charged to disseminate, live out, model and teach His Word especially to disciples of Jesus Christ: His Church (Matthew 16:13-18, 28:18-20)! However, the many professed Christians and the local churches they assemble in that are guilty have failed to remain true and obedient to God’s Word on man and womanhood as they have a multitude of other doctrines of the biblical faith such as covetousness.
Because of God’s clarity in His Word, there is absolutely no excuse for the rebellion that has taken place among guilty professed Christians and their local assemblies over the last half century in particular that now, oppose the very biblical doctrines in word and deed they are supposed to be upholding and teaching. As a result, without the heartfelt repentance He has been calling for they have brought the Lord’s judgment upon themselves; potently and undeniably displayed during this Coronavirus pestilence. Or don’t you realize that if “the gates of Hades shall not prevail against” His Church, surely, no earthly government can either unless the Lord permitted (Matthew 16:18, NKJV)!1
What kind of Christianity do you have that allows you to compromise with and stand on the same side as the world system led by Satan in rebellion against the Lord; declaring Him to be unrighteous, unjust or unfair in any possible way? It may not be said directly with words, but this is exactly what many professed Christians in their churches are saying when out of emotion in the flesh their attitudes, philosophies, conduct or works of advocacy run contrary to God’s Word and in lockstep with the world. You cannot be with the Lord and against Him at the same time (Matthew 12:30; 1 Corinthians 10:21-22)! As a result, their churches differ little spiritually from the world.
This reality is made all the more apparent when professed Christians assail those such as me for standing on God’s Word as it is written concerning man and womanhood! Having been in this warfare to cast down the demonic stronghold of feminism in the churches that with the world assaults God’s enduring order, role and responsibility assignments of mankind as long as I have, I am no longer shocked that these professed Christians exist. However, I fear for them now, more than ever since the Lord has made His opposition to the world’s and professed Christian rebellion against His will, way and Word in His Coronavirus judgment abundantly evident for those willing to see.
Indeed, the Lord’s call to self-examination and repentance within professing Christianity at this hour is very obvious (2 Corinthians 13:1-6)! As I repeatedly assert, it is of His grace, mercy and nearly exhausted forbearance (Romans 2:4-11). Therefore, know the Lord is able to and will outlast to victory this world of fallen men and angels in the unfolding, intensifying contest of wills He has prophetically foretold (Psalm 2; Isaiah 2:10-22, 14:12-15; Revelation 6:12-17, 19:11-20:3, 7-10)! But we have been called out from under Satan’s rule to the Kingdom and rule of Christ. As He charged the apostle Paul, we are supposed to be living out this reality (John 17:14-16; Acts 26:12-18).
To that end, this Ministry stands with all Christians that will be faithful and obedient to our King! We are ready to come along side of you to serve with instruction, encouragement and the Strong Man Of God Brand Resources the Lord has led us to create. My book, The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics stands as our foundational print resource followed by the in depth companion work group studies it has generated--The Strong Man Of God Men’s Group Study and The Great Woman Of God Women’s Group Study.2 These print resources are easily integrated into a family, church or other Christian entity’s plan for teaching and equipping new and maturing disciples of Christ. For this reason, we make no apology for the group studies being in depth; requiring a time commitment.
As the Lord Jesus demonstrated with His twelve, making disciples is a process that takes time (John 14:9). Truly, another of the sins of following after the world He would have guilty churches repent from is taking His sheep through a microwave fast discipleship process. If more time was taken teaching and mentoring in the fundamentals of the faith, man and womanhood early in the process, churches would not have to spend so much of it doing this later while counseling Christian disciples struggling with personal and marital issues! Too, if folk do not want to take the time to obey Christ and be taught His Word, then, they do not really want to follow Him (Luke 9:23-26).3 The risen, living Christ continues His cry among American churches, "Who is on the Lord's side?"
1 This being true, though God has permitted the governing authorities to shut down churches during the emergency situation created by the Coronavirus, those authorities
that have done so with anti-Christian bias and enmity in their hearts (God knows) as well as in oppression and unfairness should be warned from the experience of an-
cient Babylon when God used that nation to punish Israel (Isaiah 13:17-22, 47:1-11). For this reason again, churches should not take it into their own hands to resist
their governing authorities on reopening for meetings or aren't the other calamities of 2020 to include the fires in Western States still burning evidence enough the sover- eign God is at work and in control? Opportunity to make a real Kingdom stand for Jesus is coming soon enough.

3 Membership in a local church is not the end of becoming or the same as signing on with repentance and faith in the Gospel of Christ to be His follower! This deceit has
hurt many a souls that are church members, but not disciples and churches should stop employing it. The guilty will give an account. God’s Kingdom priority is not
warm bodies to fill local church membership rolls and seats, but true disciples that go to Heaven where “the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are regis-
tered” there reside for now (Hebrews 12:18-24, NKJV)!
It is with great joy that I announce the re-release of my book, The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics this July 1st under the exclusive publishing imprint, ODCM Publishing Division a unit of Open Door Communication Ministries, Inc., I was privileged by the Lord to found in 1985. This day has come in spite of all of the resisting and hindering tactics the enemy has employed in the process--to God be the glory! Why does this book concern Satan so? Because he fears the prospective results for good among Christian men that will result from widespread encounter with the content. For this re-release, I am reposting two blogs this and next week that stress the great need and urgency for my book. I have done some minor editing in paragraph construction and content in this first repost.

The incidents and resulting explosion of initial violent rioting, looting, protest marches and rallies not just by black Americans, but Americans from every hue were sparked by the recorded video of a Minneapolis, MN police officer’s murder of black American male, George Floyd. I wrote about this incident as the Lord led June 21, 2020 in a post under the category, Black History, entitled Has Racial Justice Arrived in America?
This time, among the early voices speaking empathy and counsel into as well as engaging with the crisis are a number of especially younger conservative white Christians. Along with the manifold increase of white Americans across the political and social spectrum in general, conservative white Christians as America’s “moral majority” speaking anything but condemnation into a riotous racial crisis is recent. While there have been apologies for slavery and Jim Crow segregation and endless talking by white conservative Christians with amicable black clergy about racial reconciliation since the 1960s, as I have written in other posts, there has not been any real, widespread progress.1
Our majority white society as a once professed Christian nation propped up supposedly by morals and ethics drawn from the Bible, has far too long tolerated the abuse of its black and other citizens of color in many forms that actually run counter to it (Zechariah 7:8-12; Mark 12:28-34; Luke 10:25-37; Romans 13:8-10). Not biblical Christianity as the order of the day since the nation’s founding, but corrupt, counterfeit manmade forms of it that even allowed for slave owners to commit adultery on their wives with their female slaves; church pastors, deacons and congregants to brutalize and terrorize blacks using burning crosses as a symbol of hate among many other evil acts.2
Such deeds were done while police, judges, educators, businesses, legislators (often as active participants) along with the larger white society through silent indifference were complicit.3 Over the past hundred years the most vocal champions of maintaining the morality of the Bible among professed Christians has been white Americans that self-identify as conservative in their religious, social and political convictions. Many are also intensely patriotic, devoted Americans who ascribe to the phrase “God and Country” as their motto though, on such issues as allowing systemic racism in their churches and other entities, God’s will in Christ has clearly been secondary (John 13:34-35).
However, at this strategic moment during God’s Coronavirus judgment when the festering sore of racial injustice has ruptured once more, younger conservative white Christians are speaking up perhaps finally perceiving, God Himself keeps bringing up the matter because those professing to know Him among their ranks have not dealt with it in accord with His written Word! After all, as I have offered in other posts, a “biblically conservative Christian” is supposed to be about objectively interpreting, applying and preserving the whole Word of God as it is written! In no place does it advocate for or tolerate hating a brother in Christ for any reason (1 John 2:7-11, 3:10-15, 4:20-21).4
Besides being and presenting the world a corrupt if not outright counterfeit form of biblical Christianity, guilty conservative white Christians (to include those calling themselves “Evangelicals”) have been hypocritical by insisting “our nation” uphold their cherry-picked morals and ethics from the Bible while they undergirded its systemic racism to this hour. This reality has been among the chief reasons many former biblically conservative black American Civil Rights activists searching for righteous allies over the years have abandoned the effort among their ostensible like-minded white brothers. Instead, those that are guilty through lack of faith in and impatience with God have to their shame taken up with rebels against Him for help (Psalm 2:1-3; Isaiah 30:1-5; Philippians 3:17-21).
The guilty among de facto apostate black Americans will give an account to God, but so will conservative white professed Christians who have been more loyal to a humanly invented religious, social and political philosophy that permits such sins as racism under the guise of Christianity than to the Lord who calls all to repent! Indeed, why but for sin am I as a black Ministry leader who has remained faithful as a biblical conservative not fully embraced and supported by conservative white professed Christians? Your sinful flesh built conservative philosophy does not welcome those of any race much less inferior black males who speak biblical truth challenging the wicked status quo; one white church elder once intimating this to me by essentially saying I needed to shut up!5
Now, though, the Lord during His Coronavirus judgment is plainly showing racism is one of the issues He is calling the guilty to repentance from among professing Christianity emptied out of its buildings. The authentic younger conservative white Christians coming forth repentant and in the power of the Holy Spirit to actually take a stand with their black brothers are representative of those I spoke of in my June 21st post.6 May the Lord bless you and all others to follow in what is very likely a last chance for conservative white Christians to get on the right side of the Bible and help forestall the eruption of greater ethnic conflict awhile longer in America; conflict ongoing in many parts of the world that fulfills another of the Lord’s foretold occurrences to precede His soon coming (Matthew 24:7a).

funds necessary to license the music used in and Webcast our still relevant 1994 radio docu-drama, From Slavery To Victory: One Man’s Journey that presents a biblical
worldview of the black American experience from West Africa on our From Slavery To Victory Education Project Web Site, https://fromslaverytovictory.org.
Considered uncivilized like other natives of the islands and lands in the Western hemisphere because they lacked the knowledge and customs of Western Civilization as well as the heavy clothing due to living in a much warmer climate, my West African ancestors were at first intrigued by the white skinned visitors. They engaged in trade with these men that also initially involved the selling of usually captives from rival tribes in territorial wars as slaves. They welcomed the Catholic and later Protestant missionaries who found them to be as spiritually unregenerate as the formerly mentioned barbarian tribes of Europe which after a millennium, had apparently been forgotten about.1
Indeed, just like the Europeans and every Gentile nation on the face of the earth, my West African forefathers had been guilty before God of practicing all manner of spiritual wickedness. This includes worshipping the creation--demons as themselves and masquerading as gods they deceived human minds to invent and construct with their hands as idols, the heavenly bodies, nature, sinful mortal flesh and ancestors long deceased. They too practiced witchcraft, sorcery and blood sacrifice in rituals of ignorance. Many tribes were also violent, ruthless and predatory; biblically defined sexual immorality, widespread. All of this is true while they also built great and rich empires.
Nevertheless, as with all other Gentiles since the first century, the grace of God in restoration came to West Africa as initially the Gospel was preached and Christianity introduced to many by the European missionaries. However, the simmering wrath of God longsuffering and forbearing in judgment, who had with all other nations post-Noah’s flood been good to Africa also while He waited to judge their sins (Acts 14:8-18, 17:29-31), brought it through the imperialistic Europeans as His instruments when they violently launched their transatlantic slave trade. Again, the prophets of God foretell His judgment on the Gentile nations for sin (Isaiah 14:22-16:14, 18:1-19:17, 21:11-16; Ezekiel 25-26, 29-31).
Besides death and destruction, among the judgments God foretold through His prophets He would visit upon the Gentiles is captivity and bondage (Isaiah 20). For those heroically minded individuals cut from the Patrick Henry, “Give me liberty or give me death” mold, I remind you that any one that dies without faith in Jesus Christ or perfect obedience to God’s law, perishes eternally with no hope of deliverance from Hell whether Jew or Gentile (Jeremiah 9:25-26; Romans 1:18-3:20; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:11-15).2 Therefore, in a biblical worldview being a living slave with hope is better than being hopelessly double dead in sin (Isaiah 38:9-20; Ephesians 2:1-10)!3
While lamenting his people he watched go into Babylonian captivity as divine judgment, the prophet Jeremiah found hope renewed in God’s mercy, compassion and impeccable character (Lamentations 3:19-38) asking, “Why should a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins,” (Lamentations 3:39, NKJV)? Though a number of West Africans were killed on their soil resisting the Europeans and others in transit to slavery, the survivors who became Christians experienced God’s restoration in chains. They came to appreciate Jeremiah and Daniel’s conclusion that slavery as God’s judgment was righteous and merciful (Lamentations 3:40-42; Daniel 9:1-15)!4
What is God’s will for those He restores in grace and mercy through the Gospel and delivers from bondage of any kind? Is it not to go tell it (Exodus 10:1-2, 12:21-28; Luke 4:16-21, 8:26-39, 22:14-20, 24:13-49)? Surely, my Christian slave forefathers did tell it in a rich legacy of work songs and spirituals I will not cease to remind the generations behind me are there for their benefit first, then, the entire world! They chose not to run away or escape on the Underground Railroad and instead, stand by faith in God. Satan has deceived many into scoffing at them, but they are heroes in God’s eyes because like Daniel, they willingly submitted to His judgment; trusting in His goodness, grace and mercies new every morning when joy comes after any night of weeping (Psalm 30:4-5)!
Though the release from bondage brought still more adversity, those that clung to God by faith in Jesus Christ walked in the victories of restoration and testified, while waiting for new deliverances and His majestic coming (1 John 5:4; Revelation 1:4-8, 2:8-11, 3:7-13)! For as Paul, the Jewish apostle to us Gentiles consoles, “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us,” (Romans 8:18, NKJV). And again, it is written, “The just shall live by faith,” (Romans 1:17, NKJV). But the numbers of those living by faith among black Americans today are certainly relatively small since the heavy hand of divine judgment hangs over our communities like the soupy mist of settled fog; a clear sign of God’s displeasure (Hebrews 11:6).
1 In a nod of appreciation to the days of radio drama, I was blessed of the Lord to write, produce and voice my personal search for biblical understanding of the black
experience in an award winning docu-drama entitled, From Slavery To Victory: One Man’s Journey now a Webcast on The From Slavery To Victory Education Project
Web Site.

3 I do realize there are many different worldviews black Americans have of our historical experience that are mostly rooted in victimization. A biblical worldview of the
black American experience is only possible by the mind renewing work of the Holy Spirit when a man has been truly converted. I am led by the Holy Spirit to explore
eleven major worldviews black Americans have of our experience and compare them for benefit to us with the biblically formed worldview consistent with God’s
now, nearly two millennia long cause to restore men and punish the sins of Gentile nations in a seven-part 2006 article entitled, The Renewing Of Our Minds. Read it
in the Journal Archives on the From Slavery To Victory Education Project Web Site. 4 Read through the presentation beginning on the Home Page of The From Slavery To Victory Education Project Web Site that uses art and graphics to make these im-
portant points as well.
I had hit a brick wall in early 1986 attempting to write what was supposed to be a spiritual interpretation of the first of several planned black historical fact segments for a radio program this Ministry was airing and abandoned the effort titled, From Slavery To Victory: One Man’s Journey. As I wrote in a 1995 Op-ed distributed nationally by Religion News Service, “I retreated to determined prayer and Bible study.” I asked God why and as I learned, the sovereign God who is a Participant in and trustworthy Witness of human affairs, really will give wisdom and understanding to His people that but ask (Psalm 33:10-15; Proverbs 2:1-9; Luke 11:9-13; 1 Corinthians 2:6-16; James 1:5)!
In my child-like faith over the next seven years, little by little the Lord not only gave me an understanding of the major facts of black history from a biblical worldview, but also led me back to pen and paper to write then finally, produce the just under one hour From Slavery To Victory: One Man’s Journey Radio Special.4 In the docu-drama, the Lord uses me as He did Ezekiel, the exemplary prototype of my gifting and ministry, to communicate through narration, dramatic sound effects and music the major facts and biblically grounded understanding of the historic black American experience along with a prophetic warning against rejecting it (Ezekiel 4-5, 33:1-9).
The Word of God that undergirds the Lord’s instruction and my understanding of His involvement in the history of black Americans is so obviously strewn about the entire Bible the question begged to be asked, so I asked, “Why don’t we all see it?” Tragically, it is because the vast majority of black Americans to include many professed Christians have chosen--some out of fresh wounds--to be victims and see our experience entirely from that perspective. However, Psalm 107 is one of the many Bible passages that clearly show God behind the deliverances of suffering men brought about by natural circumstances and calamities that befall them as judgment from Him.
The Psalmist urges men delivered out of both natural situations of distress and those brought about through divine judgment to “give thanks to the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men,” (Psalm 107:8, 15, 21, 31, NKJV). Among the natural distresses in Psalm 107 are homeless folk faint in wilderness wandering (vs.4-9), mariners facing the challenges of an angry sea (vs. 23-32) and the hungry from parched land (vs. 35-38). God’s works of judgment are seen upon men in shackles (vs. 10-16), stubborn transgressors near death (vs. 17-22), the wicked in a fruitful land made barren (vs. 33-34) and in His contempt on oppressive rulers (vs. 39-41).5
Surely, black Americans that will be honest see our historical experience in Psalm 107:10-16! The reason the men pictured in this passage are sitting “in darkness” “and the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons” is “because they rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High,” (vs. 10-11, NKJV). But someone will ask, “when did West Africans receive the ‘words of God’ to rebel against them prior to the arrival of the Europeans in the 14th century AD?” Did they not begin to hear the “words of God” in warnings passed down to them from our forefather, Ham, son of Noah, in the day of wrath through the global flood (Genesis 6:9-13, 9:1-19, 10:6-20)?
Did not the Good News of Jesus Christ crucified, buried and risen to save men from our sins travel naturally throughout all of the ancient trading caravans and intentionally by way of His apostles and disciples of that first century AD (Mark 15:21; Acts 2:1-16, 8:1-8, 26-40)? The apostle Paul also preached that neither prior to that time nor after has God left “Himself without witness,” (Acts 14:8-18, NKJV). He later boldly asserts, however, that wrath is again upon men who “are without excuse” because they willfully refuse to give heed to all of the various ways God has testified to them over the centuries to this hour (Romans 1:18-32, NKJV). The West African arrival of European missionaries to preach a largely rejected Gospel was the last chance for our forefathers (Psalm 107:12).
The From Slavery To Victory: One Man’s Journey Radio Special that first aired in the Dallas, TX, radio market during Black History Month 1993, became the flagship program piece in the full on FSTVEP launched Juneteenth 1994 to widely proclaim the biblical worldview of the black American experience as of God not only in the judgment of bondage, but freedom (Psalm 107:13-16)! For truly, rather than painful bondage, the Lord would have been within His sovereign right to destroy us, but instead, in His mercy and (plainly with hope) plans for us, spared our people!6 The redeemed of the Lord; the righteous in wisdom “see” and “rejoice” over “these things” understood (Psalm 107:42-43, NKJV). Failure to see from “God’s eye view” has brought forth disastrous consequences to many.7
4 I am eternally grateful to the then Vice President of the Southern Baptist Radio and Television Commission in Fort Worth, TX, Ed Malone, and the team of producers
under him that gave guidance and technical assistance to me in producing the Radio Special.
5 Let all that would oppress and afflict others be fully warned! Or, what was the American Civil War but divine contempt for the Southern oppression and affliction of my
slave forefathers; worldwide condemnation of the brutally violent reaction to the peaceful, nonviolent protests of slave descendants nearly a hundred years later still
seeking complete, unimpeded and tangible freedom from a professed Christian nation?
