Martin Lockett, Inmate, OSCI
Martin was known to Strong Man Ministries Director, Robert Kelley, when as a teen, he reached out to him and his family while pastoring a church on the same street the family lived on beginning in 1997. Martin was respectful, but as he now admits, he was more interested in alcohol, drugs and friends that led to his being incarcerated three years for robbery. After being released, he returned to the old familiar lifestyle after making a concerted effort to do otherwise. He describes himself as an alcoholic and became guilty of Manslaughter in the DUI death of two persons on New Year's Eve 2003 taking their lives and devastating his own life as well as the families impacted by his wrong doing.
Director Kelley reconnected to Martin early in his nearly 20 year prison sentence
and began working with him to move beyond having been just a professing Christian, but one that is cultivating a truly life changing relationship with the Lord. Martin completed discipleship courses that were prepared for him, read The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics and has continued to correspond with Director Kelley. He is also a supporter of this and other ministries. Martin has taken full advantage of educational opportunities earning a BA degree and most recently, a Masters Degree in Psychology. God has opened up a door for him to get the intern hours he needs to become a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and upon release in 2021, work with youth to dissuade them from the wrong choices he made. Martin is also an author and has written a biography entitled, Palpable Irony.
