Some in Christian media are doing a great disservice to those they claim to care about by desperately seeking to provide proof God is doing only positive things in America. This they do to blunt the truth He is also at work in the negative from their human perspective judging His people and a nation in rebellion against Him! Why is it so important for the self-serving pastors, false teachers and prophets as media personalities as well as Christian media entities that are guilty to continually spin God at work in the positive? Isn’t it for the same primary reasons the false prophets of ancient Israel and every historical milieu sought to do the same: self-preservation and profit!
Rather than a healthy regard for the truth positive or negative in nature, a large number of professed Christians in America has been conditioned over this past generation to believe God is about doing them good at all times without any concern for their sins. Consequently, every effort is made by guilty media personalities and entities to seek out and report on anything they can find to prove God is at work doing positive things for their benefit and in the world. With this mindset, these modern day traffickers in falsehood narrowly focus on and celebrate the numbers involved or impacted in evangelistic outreach events and purported revivals as though this is all God is doing.
While folks getting saved and revived are incredibly positive works of God to be celebrated, He does these as He is also judging sin in His house and the world to the end (Isaiah 63:1-6; Matthew 28:18-20)!1 Is the Almighty God of the Bible not capable of doing more than one thing at once? Did He not judge Eve and Adam and then provide them with a temporary covering for sin (Genesis 3:16-21)? Did He not also destroy the world in the flood as well as Sodom and Gomorrah with holy fire, but save Noah and his family and “righteous Lot” respectively (2 Peter 2:4-10a, NKJV)? Did He not severely punish Judah in 586 B.C. by expelling the majority from the land, but save a remnant in it?
The remnant of Judah in the land included God’s faithful prophet, Jeremiah, who prophesied His judgment and a terrified Ethiopian eunuch that had helped him (Jeremiah 38:1-13, 39:11-40:6).2 And though many Jews were saved by grace through faith in Christ at the outset, did not God in wrath scatter the unbelieving majority at the hands of the Romans nearly two millennia ago, but also preserve their existence and save among them at the same time until now, back in the land (Luke 21:20-24; Romans 11)? Hasn’t the Cosmos been given over to ruin and disorder, but sustained as well by Christ as Creator until the day of restoration (Romans 8:18-25; Colossians 1:16-17)?
Let purveyors of the God only in the positive false narrative hear the naked truth: God is a work all over the earth both saving and reviving souls while at the same time judging sinners in and out of His house and wicked nations as long ago foretold (Isaiah 49:1-6, 57:15-21, 61:1-2; Jeremiah 25:15-29; Luke 13:1-9; John 3:16-21, 36). And to be very clear as the Spirit leads, the salvation of souls in great numbers is not automatically indicative of biblical revival which becomes necessary when those already saved backslide on God. Refusing to repent or receive correction, they diminish in “flavor” as “salt” and dim as “light” practicing sin (Matthew 5:13-16; Romans 8:6-13; Galatians 5:16-21, NKJV)!3
Otherwise, God’s faithful regularly enjoy help in times of weakness from the Holy Spirit’s “intercession” and fresh fillings of His power to live and serve the divine purposes (Romans 8:26-28; Galatians 5:22-25; Ephesians 5:1-21, NKJV). There is also forgiveness of confessed and repented of sin in accord with Christ’s advocacy by way of His finished work on Calvary (1 John 1:9-2:2) as in all of the foregoing we abundantly reap the harvest of riches in God’s gracious New Covenant!4 Is this not positive enough in a dying world under God’s righteous judgment and soon to face His coming full on wrath (John 12:27-33; 1 Corinthians 7:29-31, 15:19; 1 John 2:15-17; Revelation 6:12-17)? Yes and we who walk by faith in and faithfulness to Christ have a robust hope now, and for the future!5
However, guilty media personalities and entities contrary to God’s whole Word promote their positive false narrative as though they have impetus from Him and enough political will to perpetually reverse His judgments for their children’s sake they say. But it is your own children among others you are deceiving to your destruction rather than equipping with the truth God saves while judging in this age and hence, His call to repentance (Jeremiah 23:16-22; Amos 6:3-7; Zephaniah 1:12-13; Romans 1:18-2:11).6 You walk in fear not of God, but your livelihoods! Just as kings of old killed their phony soothsayers that did not tell them what they wanted to hear, you seek to please your audiences so they do not kill your livelihoods by withdrawing support (Daniel 2:1-12; Micah 3:8-12).

2 Another Ethiopian eunuch and black skinned man in the Bible (Acts 8:26-40)? Yes, just as it is written, ‘“God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him,’” (Acts 10:34-35, NKJV). For this cause, the Lord is greatly displeased with the historic practice of racism among many evils within His Church; something He has led me to address in a soon to be released updated publication.
3 See especially part two of the two-part post that begins August 2, 2020, Flavorless Salt Is Worthless, under the category, Call To Repent, where the Lord leads me to also implicate guilty Christian media outlets as a foil to biblical revival in America through pushing the God in the positive only false narrative.
4 The “riches of His grace” in God’s New Covenant overflowing to us who have believed the Gospel of His Son are not just excellent in their untold number reaching into eter- nity, but quality of which “forgiveness of sins” is in no way inferior to any (Ephesians 1:3-7, NKJV)! See the January 2014 posts, God’s New Covenant, under the category, Holidays and the two-part, Party Of The Second Part, under the Category, The Faith to learn more about the New Covenant.
5 In the time of God’s judgment and all other times, “…the just shall live by his faith” as the prophet wrote and joyfully applied during his day (Habakkuk 2:4, 3:17-19, NKJV). So it is for aspiring strong men and great women of God I am blessed of the Lord to write about in my book, The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics. You can obtain the Hard or Soft Cover or E-Book Edition of the book as well as the companion Strong Man Of God Men’s Group Study and Great Woman Of God Women’s Group Study in the Strong Man Store, among internet booksellers and brick and mortar bookstores.
6 Hear the Lord’s call to return to all professed Christians at this hour by watching the 30 Minute Strong Man Of God Online Rally, Return To The Lord, on our dedicated You- Tube Channel in the hope perhaps, among other things of even a temporary reprieve from the many calamities as His remedial judgments presently ravaging our nation (Joel 2:12-14).
The teaching gift’s aim with the leading of the Holy Spirit is to give men the ability to explain and make plain the Word of God for the simplest hearts. Quickly straying from the reform intent of Martin Luther, European Protestants set aside the simple Gospel and the precious teachings of salvation revealed to the apostles by the Holy Spirit in Scripture and began inventing all manner of heretical and complicated schemes they attempted to support with Scripture. In that free for all and volatile environment Catholics and Protestants were killing folk who did not hold to their respective theological positions. Even so, the schemes and divisions have just kept coming to this very hour.
I am reposting this blog and those that follow the rest of this month for the original, still relevant reasons I stated back then. I did not name any specific group that held to the idea that God gives predetermined men the faith they need to believe the Gospel and be saved forever, but do so now to sound the alarm as this group (splintered as the rest of professing Christianity) in the main is attempting to pass off their theological system as biblical. Calvinists trace themselves back to European reformer John Calvin and have taken his original teachings to places it is not clear he would have gone in the development of their theological system with the acronym, TULIP.
God’s plan crafted from eternity to save mankind from our sins and mighty acts to carry it out in time reached a major highpoint with the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ, the praiseworthy substance of Christmas!1 His birth had been foretold to His mother, Mary, by the angel, Gabriel, nine months earlier (Luke 1:26-38). As also foretold by God through the prophet, Micah, some seven hundred years before, Mary gave birth to Christ in Bethlehem amid circumstances He had providentially superintended (Micah 5:2; Luke 2:1-7). So much so was the event of Christ’s birth worthy of praising God, angels step out of eternity into time to be seen and heard by men leading it!
Indeed, first one angel in the brilliant “glory of the Lord” suddenly appeared in the “night” darkness and stood before “shepherds” guarding “their flock” in “fields” adjacent to Bethlehem. The glory emanating from the angel enveloped and caused the men to “greatly” fear (Luke 2:8-9, NKJV). “Then the angel” spoke to the shepherds first to calm their fear assuring he was bringing them “good tidings (good news) of great joy” in making the greatest birth announcement ever made in the history of and for all mankind: “…there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord.”2,3 He followed this with giving the shepherds a “sign” of verification (Luke 2:10-12, NKJV).
Before the one angel had even finished his last word good, “suddenly there was with” him “a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men,’” (Luke 2:13-14, NKJV)! The praise of God by the heavenly host spoke of what humanity by faith could soon personally experience and God ultimately accomplish in all the earth through bringing His Son into the world at that precise moment--peace; His peace from the finished work of Christ on the cross to save from sin He would grow up to carry out!4 Those of us who have been saved by the Gospel of Jesus Christ ought not just celebrate His birth at Christmas, but with angels and the shepherds go tell it year round; glorifying our God who saves (Luke 2:15-20)!
(Thank you for reading the Strong Man Of God Blog in 2023. Our Lord willing, my next post will be on Sunday, January 7, 2024. You and yours have a Merry Christmas and blessed New Year!)
1 Read the December 3, 2023 post, Christmas: God’s Initiative To Save and the one that follows on December 10th, Christmas: God’s Acts To Save, both under the category, Holidays.
2 Please note this joyful good news was intended by God from the outset for “all people;” that is, from every nationality, ethnicity and race beginning with Christ’s own ethnic people, Israel, as also foretold (Isaiah 49:1-6; Luke 2:10, NKJV). This Christmas season learn why as a result the American Church has sinned a great sin before the Lord tolerating and practicing racism in the midst for over 400 years by picking up a print copy of my book, The Scourge Of Racism, in the Strong Man Store, all major internet booksellers and brick and mortar bookstores. And beginning January 5, 2024, the E-Book version of the book will be available for purchase in your favorite digital outlets. Watch the book trailer.
3 If you are guilty of tolerating and practicing racism among all the sins that without repentance separate us from the Lord as a professed Christian, He bids you return to Him as the opportunity is presented in this Ministry’s thirty minute Strong Man Of God Online Rally, Return To The Lord, on YouTube.
4 Faithful Christians must beware of today’s false prophets as those of ancient Israel who advocate for and assure God will bring peace to the world before the return of Christ contrary to His Word (Jeremiah 6:10-15, 8:8-12; Matthew 10:34-39, 24:6-7a; Luke 12:49-53, 21:9-10; Revelation 6:1-4). Christ is “peace” in the world when He returns and faithful Christians now (Micah 5:4-5; John 14:27, NKJV)! Contemporary false prophets in the pulpits and media platforms of our day like those of old present a message of human desire, not divine dictate (Jeremiah 23:16-22; Ezekiel 13:1-11).
Last week’s repost, “The Devil’s Bullpen” and this one form the February 2012 posts to which I refer in the opening paragraph of the two-part, “The Faith That Saves,” under The Faith category.1 Sadly, satanically inspired confusion over the exact origin and nature of the faith God requires to save a man continues to this hour. While some have wrongly made the faith that saves so high men need a special gift from God to exercise it, others have made it so low as to be mere words devoid of any heartfelt sincerity which Scripture teaches God requires (Romans 10:6-10). It is from out of the latter group that easy belief from a cheap grace arises and which this edited repost addresses.
The Lord Jesus likens a man’s heart of faith to be saved to that of a trusting little child (Matthew 18:1-5). Such faith is anything but empty words. As every parent knows, trusting little children constantly and consistently look to them wide-eyed to take care of them and meet their every need. So it is with us who are saved by grace through faith in the living God! Unlike human parents though, that weary with their children’s dependent faith, God is pleased with and encourages the growth of it in His.

The Lord has led me to follow-up last week’s blog on Whitney Houston’s death to address the issue of faith that endures to salvation as is plainly taught in His Word. This faith is in contrast to that which passes for it in the lives of so many professing to be Christians today. It is the faith that fills the heart of and is a matter of character in every aspiring strong man and great woman of God in the image of Jesus Christ I write about in my book, The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics.2
As many in our nation are physically flabby, so, many professed Christians are spiritually. Consequently, they are weak, effortlessly seduced and perpetually overcome by Satan, sin and self. One major reason for this is the easy belief in Christ and the Gospel that many pastors and churches accept without question or follow with genuine discipleship in their eagerness to fill seats. Essentially, all one has to do to be pronounced a Christian these days is say with the lips, “I believe.” And while there is a real place for not making ourselves judges of the heart, God surely expects us to pay attention to the attitudes, lifestyle and behavior of those who have said, “I believe,” (Matthew 7:15-20).
According to Hebrews 11:6, the faith that saves and endures to completion is two-fold. First, it is confidence and trust in as well as reliance on the truth that God is. That is, that God exists. Though this is good, in my experience it is unfortunately where many people stop in their faith. They often struggle for a lifetime because while they believe there is a God, they are unwilling to accept His judgment of them, repent and take the next step to embrace the Gospel for deliverance (John 3:16-21; Romans 3:9-26). Of course, many of those persons are not truthful at all about believing God exists since if they really did, like the demons, they would be in terror of their Judge (Isaiah 6:1-5; James 2:19)!
The few--relatively speaking--that press on into salvation are those who not only believe God is, but that He is also “a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him,” (Hebrews 11:6b, NKJV). This is the second aspect of the faith that saves and endures to completion. Diligence has to do with pursuing something with all perseverance and painstaking effort. Diligence is so important to God, it is purposely built into the lives of His aspiring strong men and great women of God as a character trait.3 In repentance and the two-fold faith that pleases God, then, folk believe the Gospel and cling steadfastly to God’s promises contained therein through many trials and tribulations to the death (Matthew 5:10-12, 10:21-22, 24:9-13; Hebrews 3:14, 10:32-12:2; 1 Peter 1:3-9; Revelation 12:11).
Salvation is of faith from beginning to end (Romans 1:16-17). “Without faith it is impossible to please” God and be saved, much less live for Him (Hebrews 11:6a, NKJV). Sobering, is it not? Therefore, I urge you dear reader, to see if you are really a Christian and repent from any easy belief that has deceived you. I also urge you to get my book to learn what God from the Bible expects your life to look like as one professing to know Him in faith. You will be shown how to live with the “blessed assurance” and victory of biblical faith in Christ that endures to the saving of the soul. No one will question from your lifestyle and deeds at your death whether you really knew Christ or not.

In this New Year 2016 I want to salute those Christian individuals, churches and ministries moved by God’s love for sinners to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and teach His Word to the incarcerated. Talk about unsung heroes! These servants of God do not routinely get appreciated by Christendom unless they reach the celebrity status of the now departed and former Watergate conspirator, Chuck Colson, because what they do is literally behind barred and locked doors as well as among a people group most (keeping it real) consider unworthy. Nevertheless, they serve because the living God desires to reach the incarcerated with His grace in the Gospel too!
While I am not writing to gain recognition, I know what I have written in the foregoing is true because I am one of those servants of God to the incarcerated as the Director of our ten year old Strong Man Ministries, a unit of Open Door Communication Ministries, Inc. the Lord led me to found in 1985. The preaching of the Gospel through our Strong Man Of God Rally and teaching of the Strong Man Of God Men’s Group Study by way of our Strong Man Institute in Northwest prisons are works of infancy compared to all that have gone before. However, our Ministry has in common with all others truly raised up by Him, God’s care for the incarcerated (Psalm 69:29-33).
The work in our nation is great! There are more than 2.4 million incarcerated men and women in the United States; a number that has quadrupled from 1980. We have the largest incarcerated population and highest rate of incarceration in the world! 90% of those incarcerated are men.1 It is estimated that black Americans make up nearly one million of those incarcerated and our men outnumber white men six times over. Blacks and Hispanics were 58% of all prisoners in 2008 though their combined total population is around 25%. Black juveniles comprise 26% of all arrests and 58% of those sent to state prisons.2 These statistics indicate a vast mission field among incarcerated men!
Even with all of our ongoing activity, we consider ourselves only partially engaged. Up till now, we have been waiting for more Christians, pastors and the churches they serve to joyfully come on aboard to help. Hoping against hope this has not happened for any number of reasons including a lack of Kingdom vision (John 3:1-8; Romans 12:1-2) and consequent lack of a mission and ministry focus typical of those practicing human invented religion (Matthew 6:31-33; Luke 9:57-10:16). Spiritually blind, carnal and deceived, the religionist believes that what he has made-up to do for God is enough to please Him.
However, even in the world parents and employers never reward for tasks carried out in complete disregard for what their instructions were! With God and sinful men obedience and diligent zeal to carry out assigned tasks are praised and rewarded as is plainly taught by the Lord Jesus in His parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30). This leads to what I am convinced of the Lord is the primary reason many professing Christians in general do not get excited to support or serve in the work of ministering to those that are incarcerated. It is that they have no love for the sinner and have selfishly forgotten that they are redeemed sinners saved by God’s love and grace!
Indeed, God reminds us through the apostle Paul that it was not while we were yet righteous that He displayed His love and permitted Christ to die for us, but sinners and His enemies (Romans 5:6-11). God saves mankind from all stations and circumstances of this life out of His overflowing love for us (John 3:16). With His love and continuing gratitude in our hearts, we as redeemed sinners have been granted the wonderful privilege to take up Christ’s Kingdom cause of preaching and witnessing Him to sinners so they may hear (and sometimes, such as on lockdown, really hear) the Gospel. And as the Lord commands, all new disciples are to be taught His Word (Matthew 28:19-20).
In the course of discipling men as newborn sons it is imperative not only that they be taught the basic knowledge of salvation, gifts and ministry as servants of God, but also His express will for them as man the creature in this present age and eternity. It is downright sickening to repeatedly hear incarcerated men who have read my book or been a part of the group study exclaim while being taught the elementary principles of biblical manhood embodied in the strong man of God: “I never knew that!” Many of these men are middle aged and older professing Christians with their names on the membership rolls of churches from any number of denominations; and no wonder, many churchmen on the outside are without knowledge too of what God intends a man to be and do!
Whether it is lack of love, Kingdom vision, mission and ministry focus or any other sin in not caring for the salvation of sinners, the Lord would call all professing Christians to confess and repent from it. For not lately, but from the declaration of His Messianic mission and its initial fulfillment He has incorporated care for the prisoner (Isaiah 61:1-2; Luke 4:16-21, 23:32-43). Being a prisoner in His cause, the apostle Paul missed no opportunities to witness and teach Christ among his fellow inmates (Acts 16:23-28; Philemon)!
Laying aside then every cynical excuse including how the men got to prison, their motives for interest in the faith or their prospects for success upon release, I urge you to get busy with the Lord’s commanded work to reach men with the Gospel among our nation’s large incarcerated population. You can also partner with us (or any of our fellow reputable Christian prison ministries) financially and/or as a volunteer as we go into the prisons. Not only do we need support for our ongoing activity, but this Ministry is set to conduct a Crowdfunding Campaign to fund our national Books To USA Prisons Project that will send two copies of my book, The Strong Man Of God: Back To Basics to select prisons throughout the United States. Locally, we will be enlarging our transitional ministry to newly released Christian men we have served while incarcerated or directed to us by pastors.

God is awesome beyond human words to express, for even in the judgment of His “wrath” as the prophet prays, He does “remember mercy,” (Habakkuk 3:1-2, NKJV)! Consequently, a remnant of Israel will be forgiven in accord with His grace at the return of Christ and because “He delights in mercy,” (Psalm 103:8-10; Micah 7:16-20; Zechariah 12:10-13:1, NKJV). In parallel with Samson’s story as I write about in The Scourge Of Racism1 and biblical revival spurred by repentance among those of ancient Judah at the time of Hezekiah the king, the Lord is displaying grace and mercy to those of His Church that with humbled hearts return to Him during the adversities of His judgment.2
I will leave it to the reader of this post to discover the particulars surrounding the parallel story of the American Church with the Bible’s physically strong man, Samson (Judges 13-16).3 Suffice it to say here that although Samson had failed the Lord miserably in his spiritual weakness leading to utter humiliating disgrace, God showed him grace at his end such that he had a final outstanding fulfillment of his calling and mission. The Church of Jesus Christ exists on earth at all and in America not by the will of sinful flesh, but His (Matthew 16:13-18)!4 God has made Him the Head (Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:15-18). Many over the centuries have willfully forgotten these biblical truths.
Like Samson who started out well, during the assembling years of those fleeing the corruption and turmoil of Europe’s Catholic and Protestant versions of counterfeit Christianity to what would become America, there were some who nobly set out and did the will of Christ as His Church. Others--many others, did not as evidenced by the ignoble history of American slavery, followed after the Lord’s severe rebuke with Jim Crow Segregation which still found ways to violently oppress former slaves and others of color as even spiritual brothers and through the active overt arrogance of racial bigotry and discrimination by some; covert complicity through silence by many to this very hour.
As He led me to write in several previous posts, the Lord is now, moving through His Church in judgment for not only tolerating, practicing and enabling the gross sin of racism, but being so spiritually unfaithful as to serve other gods in idolatry, brazenly stand with the world in rebellion against God’s order of mankind from creation and indulge the sexually immoral among others.5 As has the Church’s sins, Samson’s finally caught up to him as the Lord in judgment allowed him to suffer the full weight of their consequences. After a little season though, the Lord showed Samson grace and mercy by letting him go out (die) fulfilling his calling and mission as intended once more.
Similarly, the Lord extends grace and mercy with bona fide biblical revival to His humbled (remnant to be sure) American Church in the midst of the escalating adversities allowed as part of His judgment. There is so much unnecessary confusion in the use of the word “revival” today. It is used by many especially in Christian media to indicate any apparent event where the activity of God seems to be at work to excite an assembly of people.6 But while everything having to do with the saving and reviving of souls is the supernatural activity of God at work, biblical revival follows His judgment on those already His people, their humble repentance from sin and deeds freshly empowered by Him.
What happened with ancient Judah under king Hezekiah is a perfect example. Following behind the evil deeds of his father, king Ahaz, who had worshipped other gods, sacrificed some of his children to the fire, destroyed articles of, trashed and shut down the Temple putting the priests out of work and leading to God’s severe judgment on the nation (2 Chronicles 28), Hezekiah went the other direction and cultivated a heart of faithfulness to Him. He called upon the priests and Levites to repent and commanded they clean up God’s Temple (2 Chronicles 29:1-19). He then, directed these men to restore worship and led out with other city leaders to participate (2 Chronicles 29:20-36). After this He called all Israel and Judah to commemorate Passover at the Temple (2 Chronicles 30).
Having freshly encountered God through repentance and revival of spirit, the people went forth to tear down the implements of idolatry in the land. The king also saw to it that the Temple and the men God had ordained to serve Him there were taken care of wherever they lived. As is typical of authentic revival that takes place in the heart, the king served God “with all his heart. So he prospered,” (2 Chronicles 31, NKJV). Such revival could have occurred in the American Church years ago, but holding on to the sin of racism among others has prevented it until now. Proud and obstinate, many have not been willing to receive correction.7 However, the severe adversities the Lord in judgment is permitting will change this (Isaiah 57:15, 66:1-2; James 4:1-10; 1 Peter 5:6-11).

4 While the Lord declares in the passage cited regarding His Church, “and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (VS. 18, NKJV), this does not mean as some I have heard assert that destructive evil He permits cannot assail and even diminish it on earth! What He means is “the dead in Christ” which includes every faithful believer and martyr from the first century until He returns are with Him in Heaven, not Hades where those who don’t know Him go when they die to await the judgment (Matthew 11: 20-24; John 14:1-3, 17:24; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Hebrews 12:18-24; Revelation 6:9-11, 7:9-17, NKJV).
